I wonder why Indian Idol is so popular among Nepalese community. Did Indian idol become popular due to Prashant's progress or influence of Indian TV in Nepalese society?

The reason of bringing this topic is that, in percentage, Nepalese and Nepal origin people seem to be taking more interest than that of actual Indians (excludes Nepal origin north eastern people).

In my work place 99 percent of Indians are from South India who barely understand and speak Hindi. They have barely heard about Indian Idol. This depicts that only the Hindi speaking people (mainly north India) are the ones who watch Indian Idol.

One other point is that the total votes casted turned out to be 3 millions out of 1200 millions all over the SMS eligible countries which is very very insignificant.

Hence, are we more interested in Indian entertainment industries than India's own people? Isn't it odd?

It is not odd. South indians they have their own language and culture. They hate north indians. They don't study hindi. Most of they don't even know how to speak. They have their own movies, songs etc. Not only south indians, punjabi and others don't like north indians. They think north indians dominate their culture. We are following because of Prashant.

I gree with mta77. However, Nepal has its own language, culture but sitll Nepalese are totally influenced by Indian movie/entertainment industries than Indians itself. In that sense NepaliBudho's analysis is correct too.

My wild guess would be, Except a few handful, Nepali entertainment sucks. South Indians don't coz they have a good industry going over there.

so In conclusion .. I love indian movies and programe .. coz I love those big bo bs indian actress and I had 45 Tv channels of Hindi language out of 65 ...tv channels..

As long as Fed is there in the final Novak won't win GrandSlam for atleast 2 years. Fed has only trouble againsts Nadal because Nadal is left hander plus nadal is the best defensive player and grainder. But Fed is so smart he figured out nadal now, he is winning againsts Nadal most of the time.

I rarely watch Indian TV, primarily because there is no such service where I live. But, I have been following Indian Idol in past few weeks via YouTube and Sajha because I heard a fellow Nepali is going to the top. So I have to say - very unabashedly - that I am supporting Prashant because he is a Nepali Tamang bhai. I don't give a hoot about whether there are others who are more talented. Really. I support him because he is who he is.
