How many seats will the maoists win in the election of Consituent Asembly? Recently, in an interview, Pradip Kumar Nepal of UML said that maoist will not win more than 9 seats. I think maoists will win at least 12 seats. What's your opinions?

lets see how people will decide? i wish the election run failry without any prejudices. May be maoist will come with different strategies to win over more seats. I am pretty sure that its still difficult task for maoist to go to the government by winning the hearts of nepalese people. They need to apologize for their misconducts and misbehave done to the innocent people. In that case, nepalese people will think about it.we certainily want new adminstrator like you in nepal who gives new direction to the country provided u will give up your past habit of torturing teachers, farmers and citizens. good luck pranchanda jee

In the few elections held after 2046 Jan andolan, Maoists or their affiliated parties had shown strong presence in Gorkha, Rolpa, and Rukum. I think they will still win from those areas plus few more areas (mostly in western Nepal). I don't think Maoists will allow people in those areas to vote in a fearless manner.

Earlier Prachanda said that they have 35000 people in their army. Now, he has lowered the number to 25000. It looks like the number will continue to decrease and only a few soldiers will confine in the cantonment. The rebels are being changed overnight to "political activists" and will be deployed in the election. In the last victory showdown in Khulamanch, one of the commanders said that "the weapons are being locked, to be opened by ourselves". It all indicates that maoists will not let the election happen in free and fair manner.

unfortunately, they will win some seats and maybe even majority seats because of the support for maoists in rural areas and being lot of poverty there.

They do not need to win any seats people will just put them in all the seats they want. What is the reason for them to go to election i just don't understand . have they ever or will they ever believe in election. If they win well and good if they lose they will still be PMs and MPs..Jana sarakar..whatever fu(k they call it. Maoist are going to win 205 seats or 355 seats whatever the maximum number is .It is good in away then first of all they will slaughter all the human right activist, then Nagrik samaj, then UML then congress then King. hahaha ..decrease in population of crooks in nepal. These days they have become drama queen before they used to tandav in jungles now they have learned something from nepalese SPA govt. It is fun to watch all the drama and crocodile tears..hahahaah

I wonder why people are projecting the outcome of CA election based on hearsay. I don't understand why the attitude of educated Nepalese who suppose to promote peace and democracy in Nepal is full of prejudice. How many seats Maoist will win in CA election is not important, but what important is sustanability of peace because we don't know whether the agreements will be effectively implemented to bring peace, harmony and prosperty. Another point, we should not care much about who is going to be in the driver seat to head Nepal to alleviate poverty and improve the economic development, but we should care the leader who has a vision not on the partisan based but on well-being of people. Having said that this topic of how many seats Maoist will win is a gibberish because this topic brings the jealousy and severe criticism that are unproductive for any human kind.

I_think_so .... you must realize though that it has been the stated Maoist philosophy around the world including Nepal that they would lie, deceive, kill and mame anyone and everyone who does not agree with them .... in order to achieve ultimate autocracy where Pushkar kamal and Baburaam will be the new Kings of Nepal ... Republic --- Monarchy ... these are all redhering ... Pushkar an Baburaam want to rule ... they decided they were going to do this while waiting for SLC results, long time ago .... they wanted to become kings; now they are only steps away from succeding!!! Jaye Pushkar - Jaye Baburaam ... LP

Well lapari, thanks for quick post. By the way, I am a populist. My abovementioned post was not an endorsesment for Maoist or Prachanda but a positive criticism for Sajha users who are not using their right side of brain. I am not in a position to judge the ulterior motive of Prachanda (puspa kamal Dahal) and Baburam Bhattarai as you mentioned, so I would look forward to hearing more about why that is true. Few weeks ago, I posted my postivie criticism on this site, so I am reposting here again. You might be able to comment on the following post as well. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mike Bibby and Bostongirl, I fully understand the frustration and being cynical about Nepalese Leaders, but as a goodwill Nepali I find Prachanda's statements on Interview of Italy's L’espresso are very encouraging because restructuring Nepal into federal style government with nine or ten autonomous regional government is an excellent idea that promotes the economic development and provides many opportunities at regional level. Not to get confused with 14 lame duck zonal systems we had in past but to view new autonomous regional government idea is to create new Nepal. Definitely, it is believable and doable. But still like Mike Bibby and Bostongril, I am skeptical as well. On the positive side, I find in his statements that not only Prachanda is not denying that Nepal needs foreign investors for its economical development process but also is willing to adapt new ideas on dynamic environment of technologically advanced 21st century and may change his party name Maoist to something else if needed in future. If he do so from his party's future action for well being of Nepal, he would get blessings from western countries as well in future. Similary, i notice in his statments that he is in favor of mixed-type system not totally socialist, so he is acknowledging and trying to move with innovative political system for well being of Nepal. I think it is realistic because most Nepalese would agree that Maoist 10 years insurgency precipitated historic events that curtailed the power of autocratic ruler Gyanendra. On the negative side, current ongoing violence and recurrent disruption of peace are making me very skeptical about the honesty, loyalty and integrity on his party’s actions for not effectively implementing agreements. If we can not live in peace and harmony, I ask Prachanda that how it is possible to achieve economic prosperity for masses. Mr. Prachanda, we should learn to identify our strengths and acknowledge our weaknesses. Prachanda of course knows his Cadres, Militias, people’s Armies are engaged in coercion, intimidation, extortion, and kidnapping of people in the name of survival and exploitation. Such inhumane activities are causing havoc and making very doubtful about Maoist and long lasting peace progress that Prachand should know well. In sum, I believe where we will be defined by our past and present actions, so Prachanda and Maoist start from today to make us believe you that we will live in developed Nepal in peace and harmony soon. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To I think so: Another point, we should not care much about who is going to be in the driver seat to head Nepal............ but we should care the leader who has a vision ------- Don't your "driver" and "leader" words criss cross each other here? I don't want that maoist win any seats. If you have any sympathy or if you are a mao supporter, why can't you come out with a confidence to say that maoist will get the landslide victory? About your positive opinion about Prachanda's Interview. I don't see anything positive on Prachanda's Interview. < > Where the hell Prachanda's idea did disappear on last peace deal that he secretly finalized with Girija in latter's bed room ? I don't see any mention about federal style government.. <> Maoist forced to shut down Indian ventured Kodak company in Hetauda. They forced to shut down many NGO and INGOS working in rural areas...so what kinds of foreign investment do they want to atrract? Adapt new ideas and dynamic technology...huh, all the leaders are saying the same old stuff. Do they even know any new technology? Maoist destroyed development infrastructures such as telephone tower, bridge, electric power house and what technology are they talking? <> If Prachanda is for mixed-type system..that's already in Nepal. What the heck is he fighting for? Why did they say that they were for "total change"? If he says that maoists are not socialism, its a big lie to the people. If he is switch his stand from socialism to mixed economy or liberal economy, he must first confess and say sorry to the people. <> 10 years insurgency only helped King Gyanedra to subdue democracy and grab the power. Its the peaceful movement of the democratic parties that bowed the king and curtailed his power. We haven't forgotten that Maoists challenged the political parties either to support king or follow them. But ultimately, the maoists had to renounce the weapons and follow the parties to the peaceful movement. Now your turn friend!!
