Departure ban on 'blacklisted' royalists BY BISHNU BUDHATHOKI KATHMANDU, May 1 - Officials at Tribhuvan International Airport have been put on high alert to prevent possible escape of some blacklisted cabinet members of the king-led government who were actively involved in suppressing people's movement while in power before April 24. A government officer preferring anonymity said that immigration officials have been issued verbal warning by the Home Ministry against possible escape of blacklisted royal staunches including Dr Tulsi Giri, Kamal Thapa, Sarad Chandra Shah, Srisha Shumsher Rana, among others. The officials have been asked to immediately inform higher authorities if they find 'blacklisted persons' making it to the departure section at the airport. Many demonstrators since Tuesday's spontaneous victory rally have demanded action against these individuals and cautioned the upcoming government to ensure that they should not flee the country but be punished for their 'abusive' role during the king's absolute rule. While Giri, Thapa and Rana served in the royal cabinet after the February First coup last year, Shah is known as a prominent mastermind in suppressing the popular people's movement in 1990 in favor of the autocratic Panchayat regime. Shah had also fled the country following the victory of people's movement at that time. Another official said that since there is no tight security system at exit points along the Nepal-India border these people could run away via land route as well.

I fully agree "lonely1" jee. The list should include Govinda Raj Joshi, Chiranjeeve Wagle,Khum B Khadka et al. You may have already heard what happen in first parliament meeting. Govinda Raj Joshi went to Parliament building -- but did dare to go inside the meeting hall. He stayed in NC Parliamentary office. Joshi decided not to go the hall after some of the MPs such as Lila Mani Pokharel critisized and asked Joshi “why you are here? Corrupt people like you do not people here!†I am glad at lease some MPs like Lila Mani Pokharel had guts to speak again notorious corrupt.

As the mission of TNT says, "Let the drama Begin".. That's what this all is...I agree with Bidhan408...political revenge it is....Wait until SPA start banging their heads against eachother....If the govt really wanna put a ban(i.e. the SPA), start from within...clean urself first rather than cleaning others....People of Nepal will appreciate and will actualyl TRUSTING these Netas if they do that...If not....same old story on a newer print....Not Interested !!
