SHOULD NEPALI CONVENTIONS BE ORGANIZED BY A PRIVATE COMPANY INSTEAD OF ANA?

Are we willing to pay extra bucks?

Extra bucks can be very high, ...200 bucks to 5 hundreds...
The free volunteers' cost will transfer to paid volunteers...
$6 to $100 per hours .... e.g. a system engineer who
will be required to establish Audio visual effect might
charge per 15 minute charges ... that can be toooooooooooo high.
Its easy to demand, but its difficult to pay when it comes to
paid lunch vs free lunch.

How many will surely go despite of high registration fees?
Thats the questionable part. Want to do Japanese type of
biz or want to pure capitalistic biz? Japanese work 18hours
and get 7 hours salary, while ....

Think twice you opt for Private party organization of
ANA convention..... They will suck you to make a profit.

As an active member of an international symposium, I have
seen the difficulties to bring the money to make the event
successful. You organize ..... spend your money... not sure
yet whether everything will go in vain .......... .....
Its terrible pressure on you when you organize such conventions
or workshops or conferences .... if your bottomline fees are
not yet in your account. When private parties organize, then
they don't have to worry, because the basic cost will be paid
by the organizing party .... not to be covered by the private
party who works on others behalf.....

I will go to ANA organize it by itself. That will fit your pocket
at the expense of some qualities.

it does not matter who organizes it as long as there is accountability and transparency.

if we lack those then changing performers does not necessarily improve quality.

I absolutely agree with your speculation with the escalation of price.

How ever there are methods to cut cost:

1. Forums

As the speakers and the moderators can not properly manage time and are not considerate of following programs, presentations of irrelevent topics to wrong crowd the whole forum can be converted into POSTER Presentations which I think, will be more effective than those ineffective "talks". Even the very professional conventions are adopting this method.

This will cut cost of the renting of the individual rooms too.

2. Literary Programs

Can be shortened by curtailing lenghty talks and starting at time or can be limited to some classroom of a university. It does not need whole ball room to run that if the kids are eliminated.

3. 2 days instead of 3

4. The main problem I saw is not being able to start things in time, be it literary program or banquet. If the organizers are pretty disciplined then it should be taken care of. However, this is a geographical and cultural problem of ours and may be difficult to get rid of.

I saw the domino effect with that.

5. I have suggested to hire SOME professional event managers in the thread of ANA explained.

6. One thing which can be done is sell liquor by the organizers. 37000$ was spent in that Marriot alone, not including those bought from outside or consumed outside and some of the profit can be diverted to the organization of the program.
