Bus Number 62 will take you to Shady Grove station in 10 mins or less and you can take the metro (red line) from there.

Sorry, can't tell until I know the street address. Sounds like it will be a long commute to work, anyway. Try putting an ad on craigslist.com. That's how I got rid of my last lease. Good luck!
