Thanks for your suggestion damauli_guy. The reason I don't want to apply is because I have full time school, everything covered by scholarships, and I also get stipend. School is already overwhelming so I won't have time for another job, and टि पि एस will most likely expire by the time I graduate. So I don't see how it'll benefit me. But I'm strongly considering applying for the wife. Will this create any problems later? I read some threads here but couldn't find good details about F-2 applying टि पि एस. Given that my wife gets टि पि एस with इ ए डि, can she join one of those IT consultancies and get training/job through them?

There will be no issues later. Just have your wife apply TPS and once she gets EAD she can work wherever she wants to work.

@bakwaas_kura : biswas kura, i would suggest your wife to apply it immediately with no delay. it pretty easy form. i filled out mine and my wife in an hour.. super straight forward form.. Also as per the tracker I initiated : https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kzr_U_wZOJL7Tbyp3NErtLQ2Drnb14R6ajgCNYKFv_0/edit#gid=0 abcxyz got his fee waived , and I firmly believe he is too f1(may be wrong) why don't u ask him the tip to get it done, this will save 515$ as I know it is so much money being student..hope this helps. http://sajha.com/sajha/html/index.cfm?username=abcxyz

Thank you Jahbless and kanchababu, I've decided to send out an application for the wife. And thanks for the tip about fee waiver. I messaged abcxyz, hopefully I'll get some info from him. It'd definitely help if I could get the fees waived...that's almost a month's rent for me!

Thanks neerman, we're working on the application. Does anyone know how difficult or risky it might be to travel back to home using Advance Parole while on TPS? We're planning to visit home for few weeks next spring/summer and want to get informed about potential risks before applying.

You mentioned that you are a good student, have scholarship with stipend. Make a habit of doing some research bro ! There is no risk during travel while using AP but there is additional cost of $360 /person.

I've been doing my research damauli_guy. I watched that video interview of attorney Bandita Sharma Dahal and she made it sound like going in and out of US using AP is very normal and relatively risk-free (unless you're an asylee). But I've also seen threads here where people were warning each other to refrain from travelling. I'm just trying to learn as much as I can. Thanks anyways. Still waiting to hear back from abcxyz regarding fee waiver. If anyone else has been able to get a waiver or has any recommendations on how to, please share your knowledge!

No I have not. I will apply in person in a service center after my TPS / EAD arrives. You can do that in extreme urgent situation with proof. Technically you can apply for it even before your TPS is approved, again only in extreme urgent situation, but the officer told me to come back after TPS gets approved. I think it takes them an hour to get the AP processed in person.

@ Bakwas_Kura: I still don't understand why u don't want to apply TPS for yourself. Yes, you will not have immediate befit from TPS but u never know when it will be useful. If you don't need work permit u can apply for TPS without EAD and have TPS as a backup. It will only cost $135 and open gate for any future benefit(s) that may be given for TPS holder. For example TPS may be extended beyond 18 months. I would still suggest you to apply for TPS for yourself as well. I am in H1B visa and i have secure job. Practically I will not have any immediate benefit from having TPS but I have applied TPS just for incase. Regards, Pramod

@ Pramod: The only reason I don't want to apply is like I said, I still have at least 3-4 years of school left. TPS might get renewed and extended for several years like in case of Haiti so I agree that it might be useful down the road. But my plan is to go from F-1 to H-1B and then apply for permanent residency. And I don't want to go through the hassle/risks of AP to travel home. Maybe I'll change my mind by the December deadline....idk
