I have 5 years F1 visa. but its expiring soon. i am currently studying Masters in one university. this is my second masters. during these years, i didnt have the opportunity to visit Nepal. Now, i am planning to visit Nepal during summer break. But, by the time i am planning to return to america in summer break, I will have just one more month of Visa. Will there be any problem having just one month of visa remaining at port of entry? I heard that F1 students should have at least  six months of visa to get re-entry to US. Is this just rumors? Is there any time frame like this? Please, help me!!!urgent

those are just rumors. technically, if your i20 is valid and has not yet expired, you are/should be allowed to enter the US even if you have only 1 day remaining in your visa. you can check this on any .gov pages. however, you never know what's going to happen at the port of entry, so it's safe to enter with a new visa. i am in similar boat as well. but to be on the safe side, i am applying for a new visa when i go home this april. and then return to the US.

You can return alterego, only have to take signature from school international advisor.

Dont worry, some one might have ideas for very worst case scenario.

the main thing is ur i20 should be valid and u should let the international officer at ur school let know abt this.
another main thing is u probably should get new visa and to make sure that U GET THE VISA AT THE US EMBASSY, you should leave US with some kind of paper written by ur professor. If you are involved in some kind of research in the university, make professor to write that he need you in his research. this way, there will be greater chances of getting visa again to come back here.
aru pani ideas cha holan....try them out..

Back in school, my internaltional advisor used to tell us repeatedly that if you don't have more then 6 months of visa remaining, don't travel out of country. umm..may be it was for OPT..forgot... Better consult your int advisor.
