 Hey guys,

I completed my BS in computer science last sem with a good GPA. During my college I interned at a startup software company. I'm still a full time employee there on OPT, but I'd like to see what other oppurtunities are out there. I've applied to a couple of places, but a lot have issues with H1 sponsorhip and what not. I'm not really sure about the consultancy route. I don't know much about how that works. I feel that I have the necessary talents and experiences to find jobs on my own without third party involvement. What do you guys suggest I should do? Any advices, suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Best,
parakeet!

DO ur same job for one more year. And join consultancy before ur OPT expires ( about 6 month before), so that they will file ur H1B.
If you do that, being start up developer you can ask and inteact much more with your senior people, and you can learn more.
If you go to consultancy and get jon -- u will have more than 6 yrs of experience directly which makes you akward.
I had same situation, but I left my startup job and joined consultancy -- I feel difficult and isolated.

So try to stay where u r and ask them to file ur H1B, its pretty direct and easy way.

- continue your job out there in your current employer. Cant they file for your H1b?
- Apply online to direct companies. Distribute your resume to your folks or seniors in same industry.
- I would suggest not to go for Consultancy unless required to save your status. i.e worst case you dont get a job and have no company to file for your H1B. Hopefully, that wont be the case. Like Nepali keto said - 6 month is a good time frame prior to the ned of your OPT.
- As you move forward dont hesitate to share your stuff here in sajha. Do some research on your problem before you speak up in this forum. There are loads of techies here in sajha to guide you.
