The Narayanhiti building should now be turned into a museum of the ancient Shah dynasty. Part of the building could be used as a public library. The grounds should be turned into a public park and the gates should be kept open 24 hours per day. Gyanendra can move back to his own home in Maharajgung. Nothing should be removed from the Narayanhiti when he moves. He can take his toothbrush.

Guys,
Look at the Ranipokhari at the middle right side of the picuture and from there you can relate everything. Narayanhiti is on the boottom of the picture and tundikhel is near top portion of the picture along with DashaRath STadium. Another large green complex is Singha Durbar which is right side.

Kathmandu is not a bad place to live, just remove this gyane and pare and corrupted leaders

Arnico,

Certainly, additional pictures would be highly appreciated. So whats becoming of the land now? Is it just sitting there? Library bhanda pani, dont you think it should be left as parks, since Ktm is seriously lacking such green areas? Khoi, just a thought -

It is Kathmandu in July, when every unbuilt space is full of weeds...

Kathmandu IS that green... but you'd never know it when you travel on the roads because most of the green space is hidden behind tall walls... inside Narayanhiti, Singhadurbar, Keshar Mahal, Fohra durbar, Army headquarter, Election Commission, Bhrikuti Mandap, Royal Nepal Academy, Hotel Yak and Yeti, etc.

The Tundikhel is in the right middle ground of the picture... it is only a small fraction of the green space that could potentially be available to the public.

Brilliant Brunette: I was NOT suggesting converting green space into libraries/museums, but to use existing buildings for that. Sorry I was not clear.

Babal picture!!! You can just imagine the size of Narayanhiti Durbar by looking at this picture. It covers a space equivalent to about 10 dasrath rangasala. just imagine what all can be done by using that much space!!!
