The windows media player that came bundled with Windows Vista on my laptop cannot play some of the new VCDs that were sent to me from Nepal but these vCDs play fine on the DVD player. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? And these VCDs are marked "DVD Version" on the cover - I don't know what that means.

I think you'll literally have to go to File-->Open and point to a file (under a folder of the CD, I cannot remember the name. Try all of them since it is only few) in order for VCD to work. I think it will not work automatically. But I'm not sure...I remember doing something like that.

Tried that. Doesn't work. I dunno why. My older VCDs do work fine. Only the new ones that are marked "DVD Version".

the US computers have DVD DRIVES which only play content certified for USA SOMETIMES..this might be your problem.. try playing a ORIGINAL DVD FOR USA.. LIKE MOVIES FROM NETFLIX.. IF IT STILL DOESNT WORK DOWNLOAD FREE DVD PLAYERS.. GO TO DOWNLOAD.COM AND SEARCH FOR "FREE MEDIA PLAYER".. HOPE IT WORKS.

Download Something BETTER and move on....
Also, you get plenty of CD in the DPRNepal that say DVD on label and they play perfectly fine with Khasa ko DVD player (Rs 3500).
