My vatij just received his US student visa. He is leaving Nepal on the 11th. His flight is via Hongkong (transit). I have not talked to him, but someone told him that he does NOT need a transit visa to Hongkong because he is flying with dragon air. It does not sound true to me.

Does anyone know if he needs a transit visa?

He needs Honkong Visa that is for sure, doesn't matter with which airways he is flying. So tell him to apply for that before its too late. Honkong visa will be done within some days.

dragon air passanger doesn't need HK transir visa. Its true.be cool. i am coming to US on 25th dec. via same route.

Don't need from December 2007, agreement was made on Sept 2007.

Dragon Air to start services to Kathmandu from December 2

Hong Kong based Dragonair announced that it is relaunching scheduled services to Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal, on December 2 in a press conference held in Kathmandu on September 13 2007. Flights will operate four times a week using an Airbus A320 aircraft which carries 158 passengers.

Addressing the media and travel agents in Kathmandu, Tom Wright, General Manager, India, Middle East and Africa, Cathay Pacific said they have made special arrangement for Nepalese passengers travelling to Japan, Australia, South Korea, New Zealand, England, USA, Canada and Schengen countries not to need transit visa at Hong Kong airport. He further said that with good connection throughout the world, it would connect Nepal to the bigger outside world.

.I am absolutely sure that Dragonair has special arrangement with the HK Immigration Department through which passengers connecting to other international destinations through Cathay Pacific/Dragonair DO NOT need transit visa. Its a special exclusive arrangement for Dragonair/CX.

So, no need to worry.

 

It has been verified that he will not need a visa for this flight.
