Dear friends,
Most of us have learned that King Gyanedra has finally decided to return “Our stolen executive power” to Nepalese people. Many of our friends have given their lives to get back our stolen asset, our precious freedom. King Gyanendra has committed a serious crime by stealing our freedom and putting whole nation through tremendous pain and he has to pay for it.
But we should not forget what had happened since we got so called “Democracy in 1990”. We all know how major political parties have abuse the “Democracy in 1990”. We should not forget how maoist leaders have carelessly killed so many brothers, sisters, mothers, and fathers in the name of People’s War. And we should never forget how King has abused the trust, & respect that Nepalese people have been giving to shah regime by organizing military and police forces to torture and kill his own people. This series of conflicts has confused all Nepalese and this is very critical time that we understand our actual problem otherwise this series will not end.
Our nation’s problem did not start ten years ago or thirty years ago. I don’t think it is fair to say that it is all Gyanendra’s fault. I think our problems started long ago when gyanendra’s ancestors did nothing to educate people while other part of world is flourishing with new idea, when they did not recognize the necessary changes in the caste based social structure while other part of world is destroying racial barriers, when they did nothing to improve people’s economic condition while other part of world is industrializing. It took so long time but some how Nepalese have managed to educate themselves and now we know this must be the end of Monarchy’s selfishness and unfortunately Gyanendra is the one who has to take the final blow.
I know some people may still willing to go back to “the democracy 1990” so that king will enjoy some kind of royal power under the constitution. I say NO, and I am sure majority of Nepalese would too, because this will create another crisis to the current “series of conflicts” most likely when Gyanendra’s older son (I don’t remember this guy’s name) become king.
So, we can not accept anything less than "Unconditional Constituent Assembly". Is king ready for this? It seems we don't know from his latest offer. I understand his resistance to our revolutionary movement because he knows most of his privileges that many of his ancestors have enjoyed will be unconstitutional overnight. We should not forget there are a lot of people who became rich, and privileged by being loyal royalist and they will do
anything to protect their gold mine. Also there are foreign factors. It is going to be difficult battle. I just wanted to urge everybody stay strong and positive and lets pray for the brave men and women who are fighting for the New Nepal and for those friends and family who have lost their loved one. And most importantly I would like to pay tribute to those died in this revolution. We will not forget your sacrifice.
Peace
