You were 15 above the speed limit..thats alot!!! Esp when the speed limit was 30!! yikes..where was it? residential area????? Anyway dont appeal and just pay the fine...too much hassle anyway..next time dont speed. :) And about $83 dollars( I feel your pain)..I dont know...I think its lot cheaper considering you could have hurt someone...thats 83 will remind you not to speed..hehehe

Cool, First time hoki kyaho?

My suggestion, don't pay the fine. Appeal. The fine is bad ($83) but the points in your license is worse.

If you think you have time to appear in the court then appeal by all means. Sometimes the Cop won't show up hence the ruling on ur favor.

Othertimes, specially in towns/villages, the judiciary system allows for Cops to negotiate with the violators. Last time I had the speeding ticket, I negotiated with the cop to level it down to a broken head light case. 0 points in my license and a small mandatory fine.

Good luck and Drive safe. Don't DWI, ever.

I agree with DWI. CoolKeta, just go to the court, do what DWI said if it is your first violation. If it's not the first violation, get the lawyer. Points on your license are nasty. You try to get over with it by paying $83 and end up paying lot more than that for the insurance.

Hey Muji Cool_Keta
Do you really have got liscence or you bought it in Nepal?
This is general knowledge for a liscence holder about the points.
Take care and stop driving when you are in day dream.

Last time mama le samatya:

Summer 2003, hehe.. I was speedin' on a highway, crusin' my way... Listening to fly 92 :P, one hand on the wheel and the other one holding a cigarette, going 80+ on 65. Suddenly, dhyantaryaan, I passed tyasko baaje ko KHAPPAR a cop car hidden behind the bushes. Two seconds later they were right behind my car hehe... CK le bhanya jastai, Tihar ko jhilimilijhilla dekhaudai... So I pulled over, 2 cops came to me and they were like "Do you know why we stopped you?", I was like "Oh officer, I've no idea". They were like "You were driving over the speed limit". I was like " Oh officer, I was going on seventy-two"... and then one cop was like, "well, you were going 81".... I was like "Shhhhhhhhiiiiitttt"... so they handed me the ticket... 2 sweet points on my license... The cops were like "You have a good day". I was like "Yeah, my arse good day". hehe... Ani I drove by, listening to the blues, hummin' em old tunes, smoking a cigarette, working my brain overtime...

Next day, Lawyer ko saran ma... :p $100 on discount rate, coz I knew the lawyer (well a friend of a friend of mine did). He did something, played his dirty tricks, LIED and converted my speeding ticket into parking violation... :P I was happy (pretended I was happy), Lawyer was happy, and county was happy... coz I paid parking fine... :P The best thing was, the points on the license was zero.... eh.

Don't break laws ... don't worry! Just pay the piper and behave lawfully! That's the problem with us Nepalis ... we break laws an then try to step around our responsibilities!

I have a question. They gave me the yellow sheet which says warning. but i think they said its 1 point on my license. how can a warning be a point? also there is nothing written in the paper that its 1 point, just says it is warning. how do i know? Also will there be a big increase in my insurance? pheri court ma jana lai time chahiyo, pheri lawyer le kati charge hanne ho.

amorous... That's the problem with us Nepalese??

Only Nepalese break the law? hehe... jai hosh hazur ko. Now u might say, if only I had driven slowly, I'd have avoided the ticket. But that sounds like Saudi Arabian Law. You know, in Saudi Arabia, if you are not a citizen of Saudi Arabia and you are there and you are hit by a car driven by Saudi person, it will become your fault. According to them, if you had not gone to Saudi, you'd not get hit by a car... hehe...

You get ticket and you learn to drive slow.

jeez..
you do'nt need lawyer for this...damn..
even i wouldn't be that worried if i had a ticket. JUST GO TO COURT AND see what happens, if you have to pay, you pay, but if you go to court and not have to pay the money...;-D think about that!

Harey CoolKeta,
You are INNOCENT until PROVEN GUILTY.
COPS can NOT decide whether you are guilty or not. They just give u the ticket and go to get some coffee and donuts. That's why you need to go to the court coz there is a judge who will decide if you are guilty or innocent. Right? If you pay the fine without going to the court, that means you agree that you made a mistake, that you are guilty, and you are ready to pay the fine and you save the precious time of the court. But if you go to the court, you have pretty good chance that Judge will just warn you and tell you to drive slowly next time and let you go. No points, just some fine that you might have to pay (or may be not). You go home happy and Judge can focus on some really nasty cases.

Katti tension lii raa.. eheh... if that yellow sheet says you gotta go to the court, then go to the court. If you can't make it to the court that day, call the court and arrange for another date. If you are confused, go to police station, talk to the cop. Sure they will help you out. That's their job beside giving the ticket... ehe... Don't go to the court if you are illegal tho... :P
