This is a copy of an email I sent out to present and past GAA members.
Ths is just to update INTERESTED Sajha visitors.

******************

July 10 evening

Dear all,

Many, many thanks for all your support, and thank you for coming out in such large numbers to vote this Saturday evening at the GAA.

I had had a lot of fun doing the campaigning (brochures, Web page, fous group discussions, phone calls and the whole shebang), and am glad that because of the competition for the top post, a lot of energy, enthusiasm, vibrancy and good
feelings came to the GAA election process this evening.

It was really heart-warming to see the big GAA Hall come alive in the presence of
so many of you after so many years. And that's what the GAA should be -- a
place for alumni to come together.

Congratulations to Rajiv Pradhan on being the new president; and congratulations to
the members of the new Ex Com. My best wishes to them as they work hard to take GAA to greater heights. I also thank Mahendra Man Sakya aka Honda for his able leadership for the past four years.

Let us now all build up on the momentum created at the Elections today to make GAA the best organisation there is in Nepal.

(Please do forward this email your classmates.)

Once again, thank you all.

Sincerely,
Ashutosh Tiwari

PS: Ashutosh thanks Surendra for being a great Campaign Manager who sent out lots
of emails and made countless calls; Anand for designing the Web page; Sandhya for designing the brochure; Fr. Greg for all his advice and MD for everything else. Thank you all.

I forgot to thank: Kanak Mani Dixit (journalist), Samrat Upadhyay (novelist), Anil Chitrakar (social entrepreneur) and Sashin Joshi (banker) for their endorsements of
my candidacy. And to SJ Shahi for his great support. Thank you all.

Mr. GPjee
Why don't you read and THINK before posting anything. The election was held last sunday and unfortunately ashu did not win. Why don't you read the second and third message posted by ashu. I think you should read more and write less. Do not post just for the sake of posting.

A well wisher

Mr. Well wisher,

you are right. I missed the reading of the article about a month ago
and therefore, read the first post (posted on June 12, as July 12...
hahahhah..... it happened only yesterday) therefore, thought election
is going to be held sometime later from now.....

Now, I feel sad that my wishes were already there at wrong time.
Ashu, win and lose are part of life. I wish you all the best in next
election. Next time, you can be much stronger and bold with good
and workable election agenda.

So Ashu had the backing of all these heavyweights and still lost....

Ashu will be some shrewd politician some day. He's posting his thanks here to boast his support from the heavyweights.

Good Luck

An Indun Poet,

I have no problem THANKING my supporters publicly.

As you must have noticed, some -- NOT all -- of them are big-names who permitted
me to use their endorsements in my campaign. It's NOT their fault that I lost. I
accept my defeat gracefully -- without any bitterness and without being reactive and defensive about it.

You win some, and you lose some, but you march ahead, and that's life.

But most of my supporters were/are not-so-big-names.
And ALL of them are great human beings.

The GAA Elections were fun in the sense that I took a risk, campaigned hard, gathered
a lot of support, lost but ended up learning a lot and making a lot of new friends.

I have no regrets, and will continue to wish the winners well, and will do my bit to help
make GAA a great institution that it deserves to be.

Ashuji: I am just saying you are showing some traits of smart politician, that's all. You could have thanked these people personally, but you forgot to mention those names and highlighted their proffession, which I think is a shrewd way of thanking them while getting some recognition on your part that these people were behind you. This is really really great.

I would really like you to be a Great Politician someday rather than sitting the fence all the time.

As I already, Best of Luck to you. I will definitely vote for you if you keep up the spirits...

I hope that Bahun Hater Ashu looses this election. I would rather have Momo Man as a president.

Well, thank you.
And doing all that (i.e. public thanking) was perfectly ethical and legal. :-)

I get nervous about such great expectations. I know that great expectations from others have destroyed enough khatara Nepalis in Nepal who -- now in their twlight
years -- are sorry figures, living off their past, albeit dimming, reputation.

And I have this unbroken record for disappointing people when they expect a lot from me; so please, like any normal human being, let me muddle along at my own pace
and somehow get things right. :-)

Meantime, let me take lots of small, small steps, make tons of mistakes, figure out what works and what doesn't, do some solid good work and see where all that will eventually lead to. Who knows, what the future holds . . .

Well, thank you.
