Johann Pachelbel was a GermanBaroquecomposer, organist and teacher who brought the south German organ tradition to its peak. He composed a large body of sacred and secular music, and his contributions to the development of the chorale prelude and fugue have earned him a place among the most important composers of the middle Baroque era.
Pachelbel's work enjoyed enormous popularity during his lifetime; he had many pupils and his music became a model for the composers of south and central Germany. Today, Pachelbel is best known for the Canon in D, the only canon he wrote. It was written in or around 1680, during the Baroque period, as a piece of chamber music for three violins and basso continuo, but has since been arranged for a wide variety of ensembles.
The piece is commonly played at weddings and is frequently present on miscellaneous classical music compilation CDs.
He played and recorded his cover of Canon Rock during 2005. He uploaded his video onto the popular Korean music site called Mule.co.kr. It was then uploaded the to YouTube by a viewer, under the title guitar. It was not long before it gathered popularity and speculation as to who was beneath the baseball cap. Funtwo's cover of Canon Rock has been mentioned on CNN, 20/20, The New York Times[1], and National Public Radio[2], in addition to MBC news, CBC Radio, KBS news. His video has been viewed more than 45 million times in youtube. Enjoy the funtwo's canon rock. it rocks!
Thanks rustymood for posting this. I am a big fan of Canon Rock. Didn't know Canon Rock's root was in the 17th century. It's soothing. I do listen to compositions of Schumann, Mozart and Beethovan. Traumerie and Fur Elise are the ones I like most. Looking forward to know about more masterpieces.
