Hello all sajha family members! I just wanted to know if anyone has heard about an OLAP tool called Hyperion. It claims to be the indutry leader in Business Performance Management with more than 20% mkt share. If you have taken training in this software, I would appreciate if you could kindly respond this thread with your email address or phone number. Apparently, Hyperion company was listed as one of the Fortune 100 Best Companies to work for in 2004 and the software was declared as one of the top ten inventions of the decade by a well known IT magazine in 2001. Thought this would be a helpful information trying to seek a career in the IT industry. Thanks a lot. You are welcome to call me too at 972-740-4623.

Don't know about software.. But the Hyperion Office is huge in Santa Clara..Office is beautiful...Wish I could work there - but I know nothing about software or computers.....It is 4 story very large building....Most of the people who works there are contract employee from India and Korea. Also Applied Olap is the preferred partner of Hyperion.....Nowdays frequest employees of Applied Olap visit Hyperion - don't know why....Might be trying to innovate something new... Heard there are couple of very huge Hyperion Office in India as well.. Well the reply obviously is not relevant to what you asked for ... but that all I know about Hyperion..

There r only 2 ways available to get data from a datawarehouse or a database.one is using sql statement and other method is using an OLAP tool(ex:cognos, business objects.....)So Hyperion is an example for a OLAP tool. ETL is a process of Extracting data from a source systems(a system where client's transactional business information resides) and performing business logic(applying TRANSFORMATION rules) on the collected source information(business logic depends on business requirements), and LOADING the precise data into a warehouse(propably a relational database). OLAP comes into picture after ETL developers design the warehouse........by using olap tools a business user can generate standard reports(without having sql knowledge he can do this) rest view on http://www.geekinterview.com/question_details/22108

Ya, I was infact referring to EssBase - which of course is the engine behind the OLAP software. The software is originally known as Essbase and the name Hyperion is given to it after it acquired Essbase. Anyways, to answer other questions, there are many components to Hyperion, starting from Planning to Hyperion Financial Manangement. Now they have come up with a suite/package called System 9 - which I believe integrates all the features of Hyperion. I have recntly completed the training and in the proces of getting the certification for HCC. If anyone of you have taken it and would like to share experience reg. where to find sample questions etc.. you are most welcome.. Thx for all the responses so far and of course...keep them coming...it will certainly help many who wants to know about this amazing analytical tool...not that I am trying to market it or anything! CHEERS!
