Thanks Bhunte.

After doing an hour long web research, I found following GMAT prep books mentioned the most as the best of breed:

1. Official Guide for GMAT Review $22.17
2. Official Guide for GMAT Verbal Review $11.53
3. Official Guide for GMAT Quantitative Review $11.53
4. Kaplan GMAT 800 $15.75
5. Cracking the GMAT 2006 (with DVD) $23.91

Prices as per amazon.com

I have also read some positive comments about Manhattan GMAT's book series (7, each dedicated to a section of GMAT test area).

Hope this helps those who are in the same boat as me.

Riten, what is your target GMAT score? Are you aiming to apply to HBS, Wharton, Sloan, Kellogg, and Tuck? I am just wondering.

The following is little bit more information about GMAT books those were listed above by you and hyperthread.

1. Official Guide for GMAT Review 11th edition has 800+ practice questions (Problem Solving=249, Data Sufficiency=155, Reading Comprehension=141, Sentence Correction=138, Critical Reasoning=124)

2. Official Guide for GMAT Quantitative Review has 300 practice questions (Problem Solving=176 and Data Sufficiency=114)

3. Official Guide for GMAT Verbal Review has 300 total questions (Reading Comprehension=105, Sentence Correction=113, Critical Reasoning=82)

Total of 1400 questions you all get to practice to hone your GMAT skills. So, my recommendation to prep your GMAT is as following:

1. KAPLAN GMAT Premier program, which comes with CD (KAPLAN Comprehensive that dose not come with CD is cheaper and I would not recommend it)

2. KAPLAN GMAT Verbal workbook

3. KAPLAN GMAT Math Workbook (Don't fool yourself that you are math genius. You need tricks and strategies to do well if you are aiming to score 45+ scaled subscore in quantitative section and this book will help you to achieve higher score)

4. Manhattan GMAT prep Sentence Correction. I feel its like bible for GMAT Sentence Correction (ps. if you can afford to buy all seven series of Manhattan GMAT Prep, that will be great but at least Manhattan Sentence Correction is must)

5. All Official Guide GMAT books

6. Join GMAT Club to learn more tricks for Statistics, Combinatorial, Probability, and hardest mind boggling possible GMAT questions.

Good luck

I think so

Very informative. Thank you, i-think-so.

I hope to score in the range of 760 to 800. That's what I hope, whether I will be able to achieve that is... well... I hope I will.

As for the schools, there is only one school I would really like to go to and that is NYU Stern. HBS, Kellog, Wharton, etc. they all offer great MBA programs, but Stern is the one I would like to attend.

I see that you too have listed all three official GMAT guides as a must. Many others seem to agree with you.

Kaplan 800 also seems to be highly recommended. The questions there are said to be much harder than actual GMAT, so if you have reached an advanced level, so to speak, then that guide is the one to tackle. Once you are done with that satisfactorily, you can handle anythig GMAT throws at you.

I considered Manhattan GMAT's books, but there were not enough reviews for me to base my decision on. So, I omitted that. But I will consider your recommendation of its Sentence Correction guide.

So, are you a prospective MBA student, current MBA student, MBA? If you are, I would certainly appreciate hearing more about your experience.

Thanks.
