i know there are elements of nostalgia and homesickness in many threads, but that's entirely what is inspiring me to start this one.
i miss so many things about nepal right now, but the one that was gnawing at me all day today was the sensation of someone blessing me (ooh-a good one for "only in america" would be- only in america do people "bless you" only after you sneeze!)....sorry. anyway, i miss the sensation of being blessed by someone when they place clumps of tika on my forehead and feeling the physicality of it on my forehead, and, as the day goes on, watching and feeling pieces of it fall off.

Staring at the towering mountains and varying rice fields,
boating in pristine rara lake in pokhara ,
smiling at the vibrant blue sky and sipping home made tea.

Listening to various chantings ( early morning prayers),
and breathing air filled with enormous clouds of incense ( agarbati)
me and my solemnity.

yeah, i miss the beauty of the landscape too. every time i see a clear blue sky, all i can picture are the annapurna himals and dhaulagiri from the top of the hill in my village. there is no sight in the world that can compare!
i miss the feeling of community. everyone here in the states is so busy and so caught up in their own thing. no one has time to just sit and gaf garne. i miss so much!

oh, and preeti, rara lake....in pokara?!?! fewa lake hoina?

you are right! No country on earth offers such an array of landscapes. It has its own uniqueness and spectacular beauty.

It's has been long, and i am ashamed to say that i took rara for fewa. Anyway i take that back.

wowww.. you guys sound like you guys were living in Nepal as tourist.. Unfortunately i grew up in kathmandu... and only landscape i could see from my roof was shoyambhu ko dada sometimes and kakani dada.. not to menton the beauty of kathmandu's street enchanced by fresh poop, trash eating cows and flood during the mansoon season and helll yes, overly crowed streets....
i learned about the importance of enviroment when i started lving in the north west of the USA.So, it's alright to miss home but that doesn't give any reason to bash on usa.. USa has lots of beautiful places too and people are more towards enviroment and preserving them then Nepal.

Talking about landscape and beauty, can anyone tell me which countyr is not beautiful?

Being a Nepali, I love my country. But that doesnt mean that other countries are not beautiful. Even deserts are beautiful in their own rights. When people tell me that they have heard that nepal is beautiful, my usual reply is "yes, but so are all other countries".

you're right. i'm sure all countries have their own beauty. every country will have places of natural splendor. despite the suburban sprawl and concrete jungles, there are some truly amazing places in america. despite the horribly overcrowded, polluted cities of india, there have got to be some stunning places there. yes, every country has beauty. but the sight of nepal's hills, terraced fields, and the endless line of the himals is absolutely breathtaking and awe-inspiring!
