Study 2 years in Europe bra..2 years is nothing.yourus degree is going to give you nothing. Why your whole fam want to live in Europe tho? It's not Maoist era. Its kind of sad that you guys had to live in a foreign land. Whole life becomes resistance . It's like trying to swim in the other direction of the flow.

If non-english speaking European countries then, it's a big "no", "no" for me. After living in USA life in European (except UK, BRITAIN) can be limited. Plus, increasing racism movements there can lead to bad experiences. Racism is bigger in Europe than USA.
My advisors suggested that there was some good post doc opportunities in Switzerland and Germany (with some of the people from his/her field) after I graduated. My family discussed and finally decided not to go citing language problems, adaptation to culture.
Life in US is more adaptable.

I don't think there will be much problems. It may take some time to adapt plus struggles with language & system differences. But I feel life style there is happier. I have been there for vacation and felt like -- general life is way laid back than in USA. Working hrs is lesser than in USA say 36-38 hrs per week. Grocery is way healthier and cheaper. They might have less pay check though. But since your family is moving and u don't need to worry about immigration status. You should do fine with time.

It is your choice, but I would not stay in the US just to complete a college degree (unless you are in a great school and with scholarship). A spring-break and a month-long summer trip should give you better idea. Best wishes!

Everestial007, unless you are talking about near-Russia region, racism is not an issue in the rest of the Europe, which is more prosperous and educated than US. People are polite like Canadians and Australians although not as nice as Japanese. I have not lived there but many of my close Nepali friends were educated there and some of them have permanently settled in academic, research and government sectors. Living and raising family is much better there although taxes are high and earning is less in terms of absolute dollar value.

If you stay here and complete graduation, you will still have to spend two years studying in Europe. That is four years of school headache. Better if you spend 2 years in Europe and transfer your credits and graduate.
