Once they become out of status, the only thing left for them is marriage to US citizen. Even if they get the lottery, they will be denied due to out of status.

Your friend can go back to Nepal and attain the similar process like all DV lottery winners do. But the catch is your friend is subject to inadmissionability due to overstay which is 3 to 10 years ban depending upon the length of over stay. There is no other way around.
