Hello all, i have some family (Nepali) who are residing in India and would like to visit China. The India Bureau of Immigration says, "A citizen of Nepal must have a Passport and Visa for India if he/she is entering India from China". Since it would be a great hassle to try and get an India visa now just to get back to India directly from China, can they fly to a third country from China upon return, either as transit or stopover, and then fly to India with just a Nepali passport and without a visa? Has anyone experienced this or knows how it works? The rule just seems to say Nepali citizens need visa when flying to India from China directly, doesn't mention other things and conditions surrounding this. Any thoughts given would be helpful. Thanks

You can fly from China to third country, like Thailand, exit immigration and fly back to India. Transit wont work. If you wanna take a chance, get multiple entry visa to China in case they send u back.

Transit won't work. You need to have an exit stamp from another country. Not only China, even from Hong Kong you are not allowed to enter India. Best is to go to another country or even Nepal, do the immigration, then fly to India.
