Well...muslims would not do that, because to them , Jesus Christ and Moses both are prophets too. So, they would never disrespect them. To muslims, Mohammmad (SAW) is the last prophet to Islam.

Let me first answer the difference between followers and believers:

1. Believer is the one who takes the words and hold them.
Follower is the one who understands the words and apply them.

2. Believer accepts the words and sing them.
Follower checks the validity of words intellectually as well as practically.

3. Believer is an element of imaginary space where as follower exist in real space.

4. Believer doesn't have to follow the discipline so yields no result. ie there will be no change in his life. He will die as he was born.
Follower purify himself he will be changing every second. We can notice this transformation. If he was born fool she will die saint.

5. Logic, reason, truth don't work for believers.
Follower's strength are logic, reason and truth.

6. Believer talks.
Follower does.

7. Believer takes words as guaranteed.
Follower takes words as guide.

8. Believer doesn't do what he has heard of.
Follower always try to do what he has heard of.

9. Believer is theoritical where as follower is practicle.

10. Believer is dependent, he expect sombody else will bring change in his life.
Follower is self dependent. He knows he is the only one who can bring change in his life.

11. Believer reacts like cartoonist as well as protesters.
Follower thinks before any reaction.

12. Believer doesn't think of his actions.
Follower thinks before the action. He wouldn't to anything harmful to anything anybody.

13. Believer is not bound by any discipline where as follower is always resticted within disciplines.

And so on so forth.

The difference between a believer and a follower is subtle. There is not much difference on either. Believer can be a follower and a follower can be a believer and it solely depends on many factors. You cannot simply label a person as a follower or a believer which depends on what the person believes or does simply because a believer not only believes but also follows something (what ever it may be) and a follower does not always follow but also believes on something(what ever it may be). A follower cannot be a believer and a believer cannot be a follower. Usually religious people are believer and follower.

Followers have to have something to believe and a believer will have to have something to follow. Without the existence of one other does not exist, in my humble opinion.

(I get your point though - your definition is a spiritual seeker/follower, this does not apply here when we are talking about extremism)

I am talking about digging the past (origin) to understand the present. There is no better way or another way. That is why history is important. If we do not learn from history who will or when will we? That does not mean we go to history and blame our ancestors for all the mistakes they have made rather learn from their mistakes and not repeat it.

Sorry friends, couldn't get time to write earlier. I read most of the postings and admire almost all of you. You know why? Beacause I found all of us are trying to condemn misdeeds, but differently.

If Muhammed were what Yusuf Aalam Saab mentioned, every normal person would condemn him. However, my study and understanding of Muhammed is quite a contrary than that of Aalam Saab's.

From my understanding Muhammed was one of the most rational people of the time in the whole world. I can not accept violence at any cost but I can not judge the violence that took place in this man's life.

Muhammed, a citizen of Makka, suddenly started to preach Kooran which was contradictory to the common belief of Makkians. He was teaching to surrender to one and ony one god, ie, Allah, where as local Makkians had tradition to worship different gods. Makkians asked him to stop preaching Islam (Which means Peace), but he didn't. Then he was asked to leave Makka and he did. He started to live in a new place called Madina with his followers.

Since his teaching, Islam (peace), was so rational and progressive, his disciples kept increasing. Makkians couldn't digest his progress and they attacked Madina. He didn't fight against because his teaching was Islam, all about peace. Many of his disciples got killed and he managed to survive somehow.

Madina was rebuilt. Muhammed's teaching keept florishing. Makkians attacked second time and killed helpless disciples of Muhammed. He managed to survive second time too.

Madina was rebuilt second time. When it was thriving, Makkians attacked third time. At this time Muhammed repulsed for self protection. This what he called Jihad, a very popular word thes days. This was one of the amazing wars in the history of Mankind. Muhammed with few disciples fought from the ground against many well equiped horse riding Makkians and got victory over them. Please don't ask me to judge this war, I am not able to.

Victorious Muhammed when entered to defeated city of Madina, his head was low. That was contradictory to Arab tradition where victorious man used to enter the defeated city with pride. Muhammed was sorry for those women and children whose husband or father were died in the war. This was making Muhammed differet than others.

There was a common tradition that the defeated people used to be made slave. All the Makkians would have been his slaves by tradition. However, he broke the tradition and freed everyone. We had tradition of slavery since few years ago (Kamaiyas) but Muhammed eradicated it in 7th century. He was thousands of years ahead of us. To give freedom is not a simple thing, who would know this better than those slaves? Go and ask to those Kamaiyas how it feels to be a slave! They still exist in western Nepal.He was a freedom fighter.

Since almost all the Makkian men got died, there were widowes and orphans. He made a rule that one person would marry upto nine women and adopt their kids. I would consider this as a most scientific discission as the situation demaned. Lets not forget till yesterday we had a tradtion of not looking at the face of the widows. Go and ask to those widows how it feels to be widow in our tradition! Some of them still exist in some remote villages of Nepal and India.I must admit that Muhammed was thousands of years ahead of us.

Praising Mohammad is not going to lessen the atrocities committed in the name of Allah. Remember they also attacked Nepal in the 17th century and destroyed almost all temples, statues and looted all temples and kidnapped women?
Did you know that mass genocide of Hindus was conducted in Pakistan, after separation? These are just few examples. The history of Muslim religion is filled with blood and it will not lessen by singing phrases of praises of the person who started it.
