I have been reading the other thread (bumper yield on wall street) and it makes for some good read, but it is also not really helping a lot of nepalese that have little or no experience/knowledge about the market. I am reading up on all these proclamations by the threaders (and maybe they are telling the truth), but I can easily see the ramifications -- ever seen those auto commercials where they say 'do not try this at home"? This is one of those things. Forget options, futures and currency swaps unless you know what you are doing. Heck, even stay away from individual securities if you can help it. for beginners, go after mutual funds. try cheap mutual fund houses such as Vanguard, Trowe and Fidelity. go to morningstar.com and look for the 4 and 5 stars; and then most important, create a well diversified mix--have proper controls in place so you dont have everything correlated to the market; go after index funds to minimize costs, and place your equity exposure in accordance to your age (for example, if you are 30 go after 30% in bonds and cash and the rest in stock exposure) by the same token within the stk exposure break it down 50/50 between domestic and international-- choose an index fund copied around the wilshire 5000, and an international index fund chasing the msci (international index)---with fixed income (bonds) have 1/3rds in mmkt, an bond index fund, and a high yield. there, that should do it. Dont forget to rebalance it every year though.

This is why i hate coming to sajha. I saw a good thread with good potential for new traders and pros to come together and tried to make something out of it. And in return we are posting our profit levels. If i could, i would post all my profits, but it won't prove squat. From a very good thread, it has deteriorated to some low level "BASH EACH OTHER" thread. Very shameful. Someone enters this thread expecting to learn something, not to look at profit levels created in one day, month or year. If someone won't agree with you, then move on, instead you guys are turning back and trying to pick a fight. And out of the most, traders/investors should know better how to act when something turns ugly. dunno what else to say to you guys, stop calling names, and pull out ideas and knowledge. what a shame.

Well, that was never my intention. Are you guys be in the ANA, I'm willing to show you my P&L and the strategies, if you are interested. If you think $30,000 is a lot of money you should see the guys that I trade with. Their bad day is $30,000. This is it, I'm sorry that I even got here. Most of the people are nice here but there is always some turd who has to ruin it. That is you stk.

ANA is always a good opportunity for all to come together and share ideas, but i will be on a vacation that time, even though i will be in ANA, i will be on a vacation from trades! LOL. plus, all of you are in stocks, i still have to get little more into stocks. I watch Jim Cramer's mad money on CNBC to keep up! haha... anyone do that too?

i concur redstone bro. i think i read something like i am only going to talk about strategy but not details...or something along that line...wtf i don't claim to be pro nor have made millions, have made a few bucks and beleive if i could do it so can rest of my people and willing to help in anyway shape or form. so my one and only genuine interest in getting involved in these discussion is for the sole purpose of education. if you have prerequisite on the amount of knowledge / info you can share...pelase seek elsewhere as this is not the right forum for you.

hi eminitrade, you're welcome here anytime but what i don't understand is why you feel the need to disclose your account detail just to sound legit?? common man you aint making any sales pitch around here. and i don't question your intentions either, but you gotta realize the knowledge level of your audience here. folks at your level aren't gonna come here looking for advice but the folks who are curious and interested are the ones we are trying to reach. and that's where we come to play, having some understanding of the market, we work together to educated each other and mostly that person who is totally unaware of investment opportunites. i'm sure we all have different ideas, skills, knowledge, strategies, for investing but i'm also sure that we all agree on the need of investment to secure financial freedom in our lives. so, i think all of us here, our first and foremost goal should be to raise awareness about investment within our community. once we do that, they will do the rest.....ya feel me?

Hukka: If I had come here telling peole that I can show them a strategy that will make them a lot of money in the long run, do you think they would have beleived me? Anybody can do the talking, but most people do not have anything to show. Therefore, I decided I will show it right away so that my Nepali brothers and sisters will take me seriously. I'm not selling anything here. I just want to share and mind you I do not want to share it with everyone on this planet but only Nepalese because I have a special feeling for Israel, America and Nepal. Israel and Nepal because I'm half Jewish and half Hindu, and America because I grew up here. I was googling for Nepalese in Hedge funds and somehow I got to sajha. I was pretty excited in the begining, although I was a little dissapointed when people started talking about caste and stuff. Good luck to you all. I'm not going to judge you and please don't judge me. I stilll love all my friends in Nebraska.

Timetraveller: That is my account with 2 friends but we are backed by 2 investors. There are 3 of us trading the portfolio and we share the winnings 3 ways. We get about 20-30% depending on how we have performed in the month. I develope the main strategy and my friends execute it. The beautiful thing about this is that if we lose, we do not lose anything personally, the investors lose but there are certain rules like we have to stop trading if we lose x% of the portfolo. We get paid a certainsalary and everything is based n perfomance. Our salary is not that much but the performance fees. On that day we probably got abot $3000 each before taxes and that's like our average day. I'm not even showing our really good days because I did not think people would beleive us. My friends trade stocks but I'm a futures masterand that's where we make a lot of money and lose a lot too.

TT: By the way I might be in ANA in LA, please email me at minidowtrader@yAHOO.COM and I'll share my knowledge with you. No charges, no fees, one Nepali helping another Nepali. One last request please don't post anything in threads like whether Bahun are better then Chettri or anything like that. It's sick and disgusting.

I interned after 2000 in a firm that blew up, at least I learnt what not to do. After that in (around 2002---not sure about the exact date) I interneed for a hedge fund, worked their for a year and after I figured out the business, I found a guy whose dad was loaded and was willing to throw some money our way. Made some money for him, he told his country club friends and all of a sudden we got serious amount of money. I was 25+ that time and I'm going to be 29 later this year. Anyway, I'd rather keep this offline because people here seem to be more interested about little stuff. minidowtrader@yahoo.com. If you send me an email, I'll ask you to verify here so that I don't discuss the strategy with some lunatic racist. Good Night.

eminitrader, it looked more like option trading to me rather than futures (O: am i reading too much into it (O: of course 30k is a lot of money if you have to bust ur ass in a gas station for it. but if u get it by siffling or charging annual fee or the exorbitant management fee to the innocent investors then it is peanuts (O:

Nobody is innocent here, we are making $120,000+ for them to get the $30,000. It is their choice, IWedid not force them to invest money with us. Everybody is doiing what is good for them. They invested with us because we provided them better returns. Pure and simple capitalism.

KightCrawler re-allocating his 401 K, eh? :P My company plans to switch from Fidelity to Vanguard so I'd be interested in any meaningful responses to your question. Happy new year to you all in advance - wishing everyone health, wealth and prosperity by the ship loads :)
