I've got a problem with my computer. It's like when I turn on, the windowsXP starts loading for a second and stops and restarts itself and then the same thing repeats. It doesn't restart when I load BIOS but yes it restarts when windowsXP starts loading, now does that mean I can never get my computer turned on unless I repair or what? [when I turn the computer on it says " We apologize for the inconvinience, windows did not start normally" and it shows the boot options and I tried all of them but it's the same thing, keeps restarting itself but I can only get to the BIOS mode and I don't think I have installed any hardware or software reecently, last time it worked normally, I turned it off and I tried turning it on after an hour or so and that happened] Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I dont think any of you have ans. this initial question. Sincec you have the DVD rom as 1st boot drive. Follow the steps: 1. Just insert a bootable winxp cd in ur DVD drive. (If you have a winxp boot disk that would work great) 2. This should boot up the computer. 3. Then just go to restore point and select a later date configuration. Hope this helps..

thebeast, were you talking about a floppy boot disk or something that you have to download it through the internet and send it to the floppy or something..?..ya...? but one thing, it really seems like the CD drive is working, everytime the computer turns on, it makes noises and blinks..the CD could be wrong and the CD I put in says winXP 32sp and the code numbers...

give me a new laptop?, I'd appreciate that daky but the reason I'm so fussy about getting my PC fixed is because I have important office and personal datas in my computer but are you really serious about giving me a new laptop *ahem*, my computer is 2 years old!

Pinku, See, i am a linux jhakri. so it is not my realm. हामी झाँक्रीहरुमा अर्काको खेतमा नपस्ने understanding छ के, नत्र फेरि झाँक्री झाँक्रीकै घम्साघम्सी पर्छ के । However, our windows jhakris seem to have been less attracted by now. I dont know why, they are not being prompt with support as they used to do earlier. So, i would suggest you to post a picture of your computer (not the monitor though - the tower box, सलाईको बट्टा जस्तो तर अलि धेरै ठूलो भाँडो) and post the picture from the other computer you have been posting these messages. it would be even better if you stand near the computer and be seen in the photograph. In fact, Reddy can figure out from the hand itself whether the hand is of a male or a female - so even grabbing the computer should suffice. The other reason i am asking for a pic is that from your post about the devices (the boot sequence), i googled to find out the type/make of the DVD and i saw somewhere Alpha Micro (AM). I had a problem with an AM device before. A friend of mine had purchased a used computer (prolly that belonged to an organization) wihch was supposedly formatted out. I offered to do the basic setup for him for a beer. However, the system would always show up the boot flash screen of windows XP Alpha Micro version or sth like that. i dont remember how i had solved then but it was a real struggle. Some AM (esp the server line) ships with componentized embedded operating system (XP-Pro). And as an embedded system, it does not easily lose hold of the boot. So the best bet is to use the manufacturer's CD (the windows xp CD that came with when you purchased the machine). I am sure you are using the same - just wanted to make sure. कहाँ किनेको हो र कम्प्यूटर - future shop मा त हैन ? Keep rolling...

You don't need to figuratively see my PC and does it matter if I'm a lady or a man? I am a lady and I wouldn't care, neither would I lie anyways.. the motherboard is ASUS P4VP-MX.

Pinkuuu!! uffff !! Kasai-ko nabhaako Computer.. :P San got married and your computer got a heart-attack? :P Shree5 le Keep rolling, Keep rolling gardai gardai yaha pani taani lyaao!! :D Hmm, The problem with your computer sounds more like a hardware problem hau!!! Could be an IDE cable. Could be your Cd-rom failure. So why don't you spend couple of bucks, buy a brand new cable, open your computer, take out all the IDE cables from the drives and the motherboard, unplug the power (hope you will disconnect the power first :P), and then use the new cable to connect just the harddrive to the motherboard, plug the power to the harddrive, turn the power on :P and then, and then, and then rebootie it? :O Coz I've been there and I've done exactly that, and luckily, that was the first thing I did, and IDE Cable was the main culprit. And another time I was not that lucky when my Ram got busted :p and me and my friend had to literally bang our head against the wall for about a week, trying to figure out the problem with Xp, when the problem was with one of the Ram memories, and that was the last thing we checked. :D

okay, could be hardware problem, the IDE could be messed up. but if it was harddisk problem, computer would surely boot from RAM and notify that Hard Disk Faliure has occured. or some other hardware faliure. pink! do you hear your hard disk moving at all? when you start..you know that karyak kuruk sound? i might suggest you to make bootdisk for XP on floppy since you can't use CDROM. you need 7 1.5HD floppy disks after you make'em, go back to bios where you see your HT-DVD rom and all, and move your 3rd boot drive(FLOPPY) to first. then insert the first disk, shut down, restart...and change the floppy as you keep goin when boot asks next disk! since i don't know which version of XP you have and the service pack.. go here.. - http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=310994 find yours, whether XP pro, sp2 or 1, or xp home!
