The biggest problem in Nepal is the existence of the caste divide among people. The Shah kings have brainwashed the mass that they belong to higher class of human beings, and that they are superior to other ordinary nepalis.

The caste separation has created this group of select Kshetriya and brahmans who literally believe that they belong to a superior class of human beings.

Before you start jumping up and down, I do not mean all Kshetriyas and Brahmans are like that. There are some who feel that way and it is evident in their treatment of other fellow Nepali people. These are the people who are plundering the nation and killing any hope that the nation might have because these are the people who have held the power by suppressing other people and these are the people who still hold the powerful positions in Nepal.

In this 21st century, I hope you don't seriously believe that you are a superior human being just because you are born in a Kshetriya or Brahman family. If you do then, it's you and your type that is causing most of the problems in Nepal.

Again, I'm not blaming all the Kshetriyas and Brahmans. Only the ones who believe that they are SUPERIOR human beings than the rest of nepalis simply because they were born in a certain family.

BathroomShit,

I thought you said "There is a difference between discussing and Blaming MORON !"

Your spirit of discussing is first class I have to admit. Keep it coming.

You might have grown up in the same society culture, but it seems like you are losing touch with reality. You are getting too Americanized as I can sense from your postings in this and other threads. You are forgetting that in Nepal, this is a very big issue.

There is no point in responding to your postings anymore so I will simply ignore you and I suggest you do the same. But yes I will give you the honor of having the last word in cos i'm going to be ignoring your pathetic rantings about your pathetic moronic views from henceforth. Make sure you make your last rebuttal more sensible instead of pathetic "HA HA" which sounds more like an attempt to acknowledge your loss of discussion skills.

Amen to you

Cryptonite,
Don't worry, these masked guys with BathroomCoffee, NepaliG and Kanchi are typical people who would complaint almost everything looking at their posting under "Dashain in Los Angeles".

These guys are not Americanized otherwise they would not fight with Newars. They are typical Brahmin & Chhettri "soshak" who work for $10-$12 per hour in Southern California but they boast like Gyane's chamcha.

I know these guys by their names.

Sajha keeps reminding me of the state of Nepal. If anyone tries to do something positive, there has to be some punks who want to spoil it. Like the Japanese buses, people would tear out the seats. People throw stones at public lights. I have seen many times certain characters who attack other posters for no reason whatsoever and spoil an otherwise fine discussion. Those kind of people should be banned from sajha since those people deteriorate the standard of sajha. The site admin should take care about these people.

For me this was and still is a good topic for discussion since caste discrimination is a very important issue in Nepal. More than superiority complex it is a learned behavior that's been passed on through generations after generations. Such differentiations should be abolished as soon as possible for the country to make any progress.

Tero Dai you are 100% right in saying that this is all trickle down effect coming right from the monarchy. The all powerful institution which is untouchable by law already defining the superiority of birth. Then nepotism follows leading to a clique. This circle is able to rule by dividing the general people. For them the less time general public has to question their authority the better it is for their rule. Hence they would never even try to abolish the caste system which keeps the general people like us busy trying to prove whose caste is bigger and better.

IN REALITY NEPALI BAHUNS FACE THE EXTREME DISCRIMINATION AMONG ALL THE RACES. AS WE CAN CLEARY SEE FROM SAJHA ITSELF.THE HATRED THE COMMON NEPALESE HAVE FOR THIS RACE IS NO LESS THAN FOR ANY INDIANS.

THEY ARE SEEN NO LESS THAN MIGRATED BIHARI'S BY FEW PEOPLE. -as seen above

Cryptonite:

Heres a suggestion that is less naive and inexperienced than yours.

Lets assume 10 people get a disease which causes them to throw stones at others, try to kill others and makes them a general nuisance to society. What do we do? Should we exterminate them and get rid the problem. We could. Or we could try to find a cure for the problem and administer the cure to those 10. Or we could complain and complain and complain and complain about those 10 and how bad they are and how they are causing problems for others. Pick your choice. These are just 3 possible ways to combat a problem out of many.

Lets say instead of 10, there were millions infected by a disease that caused people to think they were superior to others based on their birth. So do we . . .

1) kill all the DISEASE-CARRIERS

2) try to find a cure for the DISEASE

3) sow seeds of communal hatred in society by isloating a certain demographic (from among the disease carriers) and labelling them as the sole guilty party.

Once again, which choice are you going to pick. Pick carefully and thoughtfully.
Do not forget, the problem is the caste system and ALL those who subscribe to the system, the advantaged AS WELL AS THE disadvantaged, the benefitters as well as the sufferers, the opressors as well as the opressed. (certain words in this paragraph may not exist in the English language :-) Sorry)

Therefore either you say that the disease is the problem and has to be eradicated or you hold the disease carriers responsible, in which case ALL disease carriers, i.e all those who adhere to, follow, agree to and allow the caste system are equally responsible.

All those who are reading this thread, think of one more thing. Statements you make are read by many and a few agree or get influenced and they in turn tell others about their (new found) beliefs and thus ideas propagate among people. It is of the utmost important that we THINK before making a statement. THINK if what we are saying is constructive or destructive for us all. Words are a powerful tool. Use them wisely.

HIGHFLY:

The word Madhise perhaps should be replaced by the word Madhesi which means people from Madhes or the terai. The word Madhise is actually considered to be a derogatory form of the correct word Madhes (along with the word is Marsya)

We shoul seperate people by caste. It is shamfulness of being Brahmins and Khyestriya. So let's think this thread as the abnormal mentality of those who think Brahimins and Khyestriya are superior than others.

life ma dherai mance dekhiyo. chor pani sadhu pani daku pani tara tiniharu eutai jaat ka matrai thiyennan eutai race ka matrai pani thiyenan.

even in a same family there could be a saint and a satan, i suppose they are of same caste then how does the premise of a certain caste being superior, good, bad, inferior, etc hold true. the argument is not sound. whoever thinks this way is amazingly ignorant.

People who fought to win the war against the British were kids, young and old men and women, OF ALL CASTES. So why bother discussing something so irrelevant when we know that deep down, when it comes to a matter of national pride, Nepalese unite regardless of caste. We need castes in Nepal because that's a way of diversifying our culture with each caste representing some unique culture. Hell, even Prithvi Narayan shah made it clear that "Nepal, 4 warna, 36 jaat ko SAJHA fulbaari ho". Bahuns or Shahs or Chetriyas were never on top. If some jerks tried to be, too bad for them. Every jaat is and always be equal. Thats what defnies Nepal- the variegated castes, NOT a war amongst them!!!

I did not read the whole thread BUT this thread only blames Bahuns and Kshetrias...and I think thats not the real issue! I think the main problem in Nepal is not the two castes but every caste tht exists. Its not like the lower caste think they are BAD and tht ppl should pity them! They think they are the best too. I have seen so many people totally biased no matter how educated they are. I have seen All castes point fingers at all other castes! Its just there and I dont think that it can be totally erased from our mind (or the mind of the people of our generation who believe in this crap)!

The only hope we have is that the generation below us will hopefully realize what a pathetic and prejudiced crowd their ancestors were and eradicate the whole caste thing. Sorry to say this but whoever started this thread is not a non-biased person either. He thinks that the 2 high castes are stuck up and all that. Why look at people and say.. oh that chor bahun.. or that stuck yp chettri.. or whatever. Cant you just look at someone and say.. oh that person there! If there was no discrimination in his heart he would not post this. I see more of an anger coming out from his postings rather than an "educated discussion" as he calls it.

Seriously I have not seen any person treat the other castes like "some lowly human beings by the Group of people who are in powerful positions in the country." Does that indicate that only the two castes hold the higher positions? What ideas do u have about the caste system? Do u think thats a nuisance to start w ith OR do u think that the only 2 castes mentioned should admit defeat? I could not understand you!
