Nepe,

You have ACCUSED me, a known poster, of something I did not do.
In other words, you have PUBLICLY misrepresented my creative work to suit your
own political agenda.

This is a SERIOUS thing, Nepe.

And in doing so, you have changed the rules of engagement on Sajha.

And so, in the name of scientific truth, (and science is something you claim to do in your spare hours on Uncle Sam's payroll ), my question is this:

Why don't you now go ahead and share your EVIDENCE for throwing that charge in public?

I have already told you to get in touch with Guna Raj Luitel and get the truth.
Have you done that?
If not, do you homework first before yakking out aloud.

Let me also tell you to get in touch with Kunda Dixit (who was also in the audience that night).

Do that and report your findings on Sajha.

You mentioned the audio file.
Why don't you go ahead and QUOTE any verifiably true line from that tape so that you can stand behind your charge?

Can you do that, Nepe?

Yes, since your charge is personally aimed at me, I am PUBLICLY challenging you to provide a single evidence to back up your claim.

I have also helped you above by giving you two names for you to contact.

Nepe, if you can PROVE your own charge in a manner that can be verified by third-party Sajha visitors, you do justice to the pursuit of truth.

If not, then you -- Deepak Khadka -- stand FURTHER exposed as:

a goddamn liar,
deceiver,
misleader and
a plain bigot who'd do anything -- and I mean, anything -- to paint someone like me in a negative light just to settle a score for once daring to question some of his political assumptions .

Deepak Khadka, the ball is your court.

You have made your charge.
Before yakking further, show us the damn evidence now.

Ashu, why don't you post what kind of parody you made about the Palace on Sajha. Then Nepe will be exposed of his lying. Why are you scared of exposing that part.

It seems Nepe is reluctant to investigate, and you seem to differ his claims. Since you being the source of information, you could copy paste exact phrases and clear this up.

Its unclear what's holding you to do this?

आशु दाई,
किन होला तपाईँ जस्तो पढे लेखेको मारछेले यस्तो एकोहोरे कुरो गरी रहने, एभर ?

Just wondering, if Ashu and San, the web-keeper are the same? Reading Ashu's threatening post to this unknown poster aliased Nepe regarding the rules of engagement in sajha, redefinition of science, his acclamation of being a "known" (?) poster, and abusive foul language, i wonder how he gets that moral impetus to call the other person things like godamn liar, bigot, deceiver etc unless he is the same person who has a total control of this site just like Tulsi Giri has over Nepal.

ngorkha, very true indeed, i second you although with a fear whether i am within the rules of engagement and if science allows it. ke garne aajkal dar-marnu chha, london ko police le kalo tauko dekhe shoot garchha, sajha bata science ko redefinition huna thalyo, feri rules of engagement ko kuro aauchha, jata tatai war-zone jasto.

HanneTanne, you seem to be first hanne and then tanne, you dont need to ask for pardon at the end just to tell what you see what almost everyone has seen.

Instead of discussing and attacking ideas, some sajha posters are bent on attacking the poster.

Ashu has a good position in sajha because he has been consistent with his ideas. Every once in a while we keep seeing people who seem to gang up against him but this being an anonymous forum you can never tell if it's same person with different ids or not.

Again, sajha forum would be better if people discussed ideas and not get personal.

Time and again, Ashu dai --- a neutral (?) Nepalese till some political forces directly hurt him or his family --- has REAL conflict with Nepe --- a long time Sajha opponent and an open-democrat. It is not only a personal conflict but also a cyber war against back-to-back-faced two figures because it involves Nepalese politics but rather in an egoistic manner.

I still remember, once upon a time, Ashu wrote more than a dozen times against me--Ok--that he never hurls any personal adjectives to anyone. But now, time has changed a lot. Much more water has been flown in Bagmati after the third-time cabinet reshuffle, and now Ashu really has showed his real face with hurl adjectives against anyone, even against a fictitious character in my non-political and realistic-but-fictional story. I think it goes till the forth-time cabinet reshuffle!!!

In every posts, he claims that he never talks without proofs but he hesitates to give the proofs at the same thread. In every posts, he claims that he never calls people by name but in the same he quotes people by calling their names, makes a dreamy guess against others' profession and political background to make his posting more hostile. In every posts, he claims that he sees the color not only B/W but in the same post he analyzes the things only in a dark-color. All these are strange for me!

Ashu's behavior reminds me the days of my undergraduate years. Some people --- YES I say some people --- are such that they even can not sleep/enjoy if they are not involved in any personal debates/fights/hostile attacks. Some people can not sleep well at night if they are not involved some sort of conflicts on that particular day.

I REALLY do not how and when things go smoothly!

I will request my younger brother in Nepal to scan that Kantipur news-report (of 2 April 2004) and I will have it posted here. That may take a few days.

Around 100 people paid 100 rupees each to attend the half-hour program. Based on
my strictly amateur effort, I can say that there is a good market for good stand-up comedy in Nepal. [My amateur style was heavily influenced by Woody Allen, Steven Wright, with ways of Chris Rock, Billy Crystal and Monty Python thrown in.)

Since I did my show, much more talented Nepali humorists such as Chatyang Master and Manoj Gajurel have expressed an interest to work with me. But because of my
real-work commitments, I have not had a chance to write jokes for them, though I remain in touch with them and other members of Nepal Sisnu-Pani Maha Sangh (Nepal's Humor ororganisation). [Not bad for a guy who was REJECTED twice by a humour society in Boston for NOT being funny enough :-) ]

This was the event:

An excellent question.

One reason why पढे लेखेको मारछे never get into public service aka politics in Nepal is that they are very, very afraid of having to deal with unsavory characters like Nepe
who play unfair games, hurl adjectives repeatedly and try to ruin your whatever reputation just because you refuse to kowtow to them.

Dealing with these kind of people can be very exhausting and scary, and most GOOD people in Nepal just do not have the stamina to deal with such snakes who are out to portray you as something which you are NOT and therefore destroy you politically and socially.

[I remember the time when the editor of Dristi puhblished FALSE stories about Pratyoush Onta in 2001 and tried to ruin Onta's reputation. When Onta confronted the editor face-to-face (I was there with him) to provide evidence, the stupid editor would still stick to his story and NOT provide a single shred of evidence for his anti-Onta story. That incident made a deep impression in me that in Nepal the Leftists seem to think that they can get away with lies, lies and lies about other people with ZERO responsibility.]

These people are like manpower company ko sons-in-law: absolute bastards.

Be a gentleman with these people, and they'll clean you up for good. Believe me, one reason why many good professionals do NOT get into politics in Nepal is that it's a pit of vipers, and you'd have to wrestle with them to get your way. Else, they'll have you -- an USreturned polite, polished, agreeable and nice gentleman -- for lunch.

My attitude is this: I don't know my future. But If I, for one, ever get into public service in Nepal, I'd have to deal with such rascals head-on and with full force and check-mate them on every turn.

And so, better to pick up some emotional strengths by doing some practice rounds on Sajha (with Nepe, in this case) NOW than to be caught unawares later on. It's very difficult to work in Nepal by being a nice guy.

*******

As for personal stuff: Everything I have said about Nepe has been posted on Sajha by Nepe himself on various occasions.

By using the info Nepe has posted about himself to describe himself, I have used his own words here and have NOT brought in extra-information from outside.

*********

"if Ashu and San, the web-keeper are the same?"

No.
We are two different poeople.

San is the owner of this site.
I am just a visitor here since 2000 AD.

************

OK,

Recently --as usual, with ZERO evidence -- you claimed on Sajha that my readership has fallen here. I kept quiet at that remark because asking you to supply evidence for your outlandish claims is like asking a cat to be a vegetarian.

Still, if your that clain were true : Why are you still reading my comments and commenting on them? Acxcording to you, I have no readers. Therefore, why is it your tauko-dukhai what I say here?

Back to Nepe:

Can he PROVE the charge that my half-hourko amateur stand-up comedy show was "monarchy-friendly"?

Nepe made that accusation in public here.
Let Nepe prove it too.

If Nepe had said, "your show was jhoor and khattam".
I would have had NO problem with that.
I would have thanked him, and that would be that.

But in his zeal to portray me as something I am NOT, he made a remark that simply exposes himn for what he is.

He cannot get away making all kinds of stupid remarks about other people with ZERO evidence. Either he proves it or says "sorry" to me, and we can move forward afresh.

If he tries to get away, then, ladies and gentelmen, his ENTIRE credibility is gone.
Calling oneself a democrat is no great credential. Any idiot can do that.
BEHAVING like a democrat on and off Sajha makes one a democrat.

This guy, as I have long suspected, is a liar who'd stoop to any length to settle a
political disagreement. But I hope to be proven wrong.

Meantime, let's enjoy the show -- shall we?

Ashu,

The ball is in your court as ngorkaji rightly reminded you. I don't understand why you are throwing it to unsuspecting Kunda Dixit and Gunaraj Luintels' courts and running away.

A single word from you would do. Answer it in YES or NO. Did you take on the King in your stand up at Patan Dhoka ?

I am 99% sure that you did not.

Basis ? First of all, I have listened to a part of your presentation (the audio clip you provided). Second, I have seen your monarchy-friendly views in Sajha almost on a daily basis for past 4 years (!). Third, I have seen how your political bias gets in to your art work. Do you remember our fight over 'I want my NTV' ? This piece of humor too was monarchy friendly.

If you are disparate to show that you can write monarchy-unfriendly humor too, don't turn me to Dixit or Luintel, instead turn to me, I can help you.

Your humor piece on Krishna Pahadi, 'In clear Conscience', in Nepali Times was a monarchy-unfriendly piece of some sort.

I said humor because, although it was published as a 'Strictly Business' column, the content of the piece is such that it becomes a piece of humor when placed in a Business section. When I first read it, I was wondering how come this piece fitted into the business section. Then I thought it must be the editor's sense of humor.

Pending further data, we don't know who is in the right or wrong yet. In the meantime, here are some wonderful ways in which Nepe has been portrayed in this thread (with clever, lawyerly qualifiers):

a goddamn liar, deceiver, misleader and a plain bigot; an unsavory character who plays unfair games, hurls adjectives repeatedly and tries to ruin your whatever reputation just because you refuse to kowtow to them; snake, viper; like manpower company ko son-in-law: absolute bastard; rascal, idiot.

The above, of course, does not qualify as "hurling adjectives", it only becomes such when OTHERS do it. Kind of like American foreign policy: if I do it, it's okay, if you do it, it ain't!

(zalim, you are hilarious!)

On a serious note, it gives me immense pleasure to be recognized as a life long republican which I have been. Except for the euphoric months and perhaps a year or two after 1990's jana-andolan, during which period I was hopefully looking towards 'Constitutional Monarchy', I have found myself believing more and more in republic Nepal as time went by.

My well wishers, particularly those who haven't have chance to read my views scattered and lost in Sajha threads, might wonder if my faith in republicanism is dogmatic.

My answer is no.

To explain how, let me put this first. Although I am saying republic Nepal, I am not insisting on exterminating the crown. I am only insisting on exterminating it's political power, both seen and unseen. I am open to any model that fits this criterion.

One that I have talked about in Sajha and elsewhere is what I call "Deconstitutional Monarchy" or simply "Cultural Monarchy". The description of this model is that the monarchy will be removed from the constitution but not from the culture. This is the extent or lack thereof my flexibility. However, I think it's already becoming too late for this kind of monarchy. I think our history is readying for "Discontinued monarchy" instead.

Next, as I said, right after 1990, I was hopeful, albeit with some skepticism as well, with the Constitutional Monarchy model of ours. As history progressed, it started to show, to my eyes at least, the sign of malfunctioning of a compromised democracy and my hope with monarchy got evaporated. I have tried to explain this part, that is, how the invisible power of monarchy inhibited the growth of democracy to bear it's fruits, in my essay my dear friend Ashu never tires ridiculing.

That's all for now.

So who started hurling such personal adjectives first. That person is the culprit and the loser in this debate. Can anyone tell me who started it first?

Ashu Said:
" Still, if your that clain were true : Why are you still reading my comments and commenting on them? Acxcording to you, I have no readers. Therefore, why is it your tauko-dukhai what I say here?"

Again, you did a WRONG interpretation. I never said that I would STOP reading your posts --- rather I did say I READ your posts to make myself fit for NEGATIVE side of any opinions. GO and READ my posts again if you have confusion about what I said.

And,

It is a public place. So, I do not think that you have a RIGHT to bar me to read any posts from anyone (if you are not an administrator of this site, of course!). As you taught me in the previous threads, any posts and any comments --- both hostile and fruitful could be made at any time and place. I took this as a lesson from you and I am using this lesson in this thread. Did I make a mistake?

Being a grass-root level democracy supporter with ZERO political links with any political parties and institutions, it is my obligation to protect democracy from the attackers to the extent I can.

In retrospect, I realize that I have been too harsh to Ashu on one account that I did not intend to.

I did not intend to ruin his reputation [of an artist/writer]. There is no doubt about Ashu's talent. I mean there are hundreds of mediocre artists/writers in Nepal who never get challenged, who somehow get rewards and recognition of the nation's assets and what not. Brainless mediocre comedy passes as a brilliant humor and so on.

If any word of mine has presented you in a poor light in terms of 'standard', I would like to apologize, Ashu. My grilling is only on the political bias, not on the quality of your works. Your works reflect your talent and knowledge of a well read person. No doubt about that.
