Pili captives are safe: INSEC KOL Report KATHMANDU, Aug 22 - The Royal Nepal Army (RNA) soldiers taken hostage by Maoist rebels after fierce clashes between security forces and the rebels at the Pili army base camp in Kalikot on the night of August 7 are safe and being treated humanely, Informal Sector Service Center (INSEC), a rights watchdog, said Sunday. The online portal of the organiztion, inseconline, quoted a Surkhet-based journalist Ashok Kumar Singh as saying that 27 RNA men abducted by the rebels after the nightlong clashes have been kept in a village located in southeastern region of Pili and are safe. The soldiers in Maoist captivity have said they were treated as prisoners of wars. Of the 60 abducted, Singh has brought photos of 27 soldiers. ?Though they had been treated humanely, they were nervous thinking about their captivity,? said Singh. The abductees have expressed hope that they would be released immediately if journalists and human rights activists pressed for it. In a recently issued statement, Maoist chairman Prachanda assured of releasing the soldiers saying that all the captives were being treated humanely and would be freed at an appropriate time after necessary procedures. In the statement that came in response to UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in Nepal, Ian Martin's call for humane treatment to the hostages, Prachanda also said his party was committed to provide cooperation to the envoy. At least 55 soldiers and 27 Maoists were killed in the clashes. The hostages who Singh met are: Anil Kunwar, Jit Bahadur Tamang (Nuwakot), Prem Bahadur Tamang (Nuwakot), Shyam Bastola (Gulmi), Ram Bahadur Tamang (Sindhupalchowk), Keshav Phuyal (Dolakha), Umar Kunwar (Kaski), Krishna Bahadur Tamang (Nuwakot), Shiva Karki (Dhading), Jiwan Tamang (Kathmandu), Ram Bahadur Tamang (Sindhupalchowk), Tanka Bahadur Ale Magar (Dolakha), Tej Narayan Shrestha (Kathmandu), Tirtha Bahadur Dhital (Gorkha), Jhilke Tamang (Lalitpur), Netra Ghale (Shyangja), Sarob Ranabhat (Tanahun), Tara Lama (Sindhupalchowk), Min Bahadur Chaudhari (Bardibas), Kailash Dangi (Dang) and Hariram Chaudhari (Address unidentified). The identity of four other captive soldiers is not known. (snn)

Maoist To Release The Prisoner's of War In Appropriate Time And Process Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) Central Committee Press Statement This press statement has been issued to clarify party policy in connection with human right, and development and construction. 1. Our party is a revolutionary party struggling to establish a real democracy of the Nepalese people. Publicizing our conviction towards the main spirit of the Geneva Treaty in relation to human rights we have been emphasizing to pursue it ever since the people?s war was initiated under the leadership of our party. A series of conduct that we have been keeping up with respectful and humanly behaviour towards the prisoners of war and releasing them in a process has justified the said conviction in practice. In the context of some of the unexpected and anti-policy incidents that occur from our cadres occasionally in the course of war, along with public self-criticism, we have been pursuing the process of action upon the offenders and we would like to clarify that our policy has been to apply it more firmly. 2. The reality that the ?Royal? army of the feudal palace in Nepal has been unlawfully disappearing in thousands, inhumanly killing people?s sons and daughters along with brutal torture, raping women and carrying out an awful chain of loot, beat and ablaze in the villages of poor peasants is not hidden from anybody. Also the fact that the adventure of crushing the whole country with the grinding stone of autocracy by seizing all the fundamental and sovereign rights of citizens, after the feudal royal coup of the last February 1, 2005, is clear. In this backdrop, welcoming publicly the decision taken to appoint a high commission by the United Nations to follow up and protect the human rights in Nepal, our determination of helping them up to our capability has already unfolded. We also would like to clarify through this statement that our party policy has been to allow the aforesaid commission of the United Nations to travel to any part of the country influenced by the conflict, to study and inspect the sensitive spot of incident, to visit the prisoners under our control and to help carry out discussion and interaction with different units of our party according to necessity. This policy of our party is also being applied in the case of the International Red Cross Organizations. 3. It is known to all that a base camp of ?Royal? army in Kalikot District had recently undergone a daring attack by the People?s Liberation Army and that camp was captured successfully. In this context, we would like to clarify that the propaganda of the ?Royal? government that 40 of the captured royal soldiers were killed in cold-blood is totally imaginary, false and conspiratorial. If the People?s Liberation Army had shot at them after capturing, it is clear that there would raise no question of taking 52 royal soldiers in our detention. We would also like to clarify that the royal soldiers in our detention are being treated respectfully and they will be released by an appropriate process and time. Also, we would like to heartily appeal the entire human right organizations to raise voice on the unsighted air attack that the royal army carrying out upon the remote villages and innocent and unarmed people to hide their defeat and cowardice. 4. Some inclarities and regional unevenness have been remaining in our policy on the UNDP and different NGOs and INGOs in relation to construction and development. Definitely, our party policy has been to provide help to the efforts of development by the United Nations. Recently, party has issued a statement to implement and make it implement firmly and evenly all across the country and party is confident to get a positive result out of it. So long as different NGOs and INGOs are concerned, party decision has been to work and help them work by maintaining coordination and agreement with regional and district level parties and people?s governments. If any problem arises in this regard, the policy of resolving them by having discussions between our party and the central bodies of the related organizations and institutions has also been clarified. Date: August 10, 2005 Prachanda Chairman CPN (Maoist)

All this statements and doctored impromptus from these inhuman pieces of shits a.k.a Maoists are nothing but their tactic to have a bargaining chip to the outside world. First kill the innocents; gouge the eyes, cut balls, and mutilate their opponents body, just the way vultures would; but at least vultures does that to the dead - and just so that the outside world would still have hope of them behaving like human being - release the statement saying, "look at us - we have this many people as captive and we are releasing them - never mind we killed, mutilated, and showed height of savagery but - we can change." All bull shit. Kidnap and release - Kidnap and release - Kidnap and release - in the process kill, mutilate, abuse, but its all right just Kidnap and release - Kidnap and release and BINGO. The message is clear - the world is dumb and we respect human right. Kudos. And oh yeah! The datas are created and FLAUNTED by some one with a soft corner for democracy (what a joke); and guess what - and theyb expect the majority to belive them. But they do - yes they do - those majority are these foreign "Amneties" - after all they have to spend their dollars somewhere. Dollars - is it not? Human rights in Nepal = Dollar motivated. And you know what; these so called democrats and institution like Amnesty I., and so called dignitaries and many foreign based institutions who raises hell when west is attacked (i.e. - London bombing), and YET refuses to at least voice and tell moist what they REALLY are - Terrorists. Why am I even wasting my breath on foreign "Amnesties" when our very own (self proclaimed) intelligentsia coterie is hell bent on helping educate these "Amnesties" about how Maoists are NOT the number one threat. Dammit lekhdina lekhdina bhanyo... tyaini achammai lagne. HOW oh HOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW can people justify the henious act of inhumanity by these terrorists ? That too to their own brothers and sisters? Disgusted, IndisGuise:s

You are absolutely right Turbulence. All the shoshak and samanti needs to be wiped off from Nepal, and secure the better future for the upcoming generation. Monarchy needs to be wiped off too. I understand, it is the symbol of our national unity; however, it is completely unfair. It is unfair, and it doesn't have any right to exist in an educated society. If the constitution gives that right to monarchy, then the constitution is wrong, and it needs to be wiped off too. This is the only way to create a society that is fair to everyone, and also the prosperous future Nepal.

Highfly, 95% may be little higher or little lower, but the percentage tends to be correct, if you know what 'tends to' means. Just wanted to tell you something; getting the correct statistics to you is not the high priority of the country. But making the educated people like you to think about creating a prosperous Nepal is what the country needs right now.

Highfly, I do not feel to necessary to react with you. That will be just a waste of time. I will happily discuss with IndisGuise. Even he does not agree with my view, at least he has some logics.

Turbulence, Lets analyzed the scenario. Yours Scenario: Maos in POwer. Democratic republic gone. Democratic and Individual rights no where to be seen. One party government. Execution of any opposing voice. Sanctions from all over the world. Possible interference by outside country. My ideal scenario: Strong parties without any corrupt polticians. Negotiate with the king and Maos. Maos should show commitment for democracy and give away weapons. Strong framework and transparency. Auditng of each organization by an indpendent auditors. Army in the control of parliament. No poltical appointments what so ever in any organizations. All under the law. Be it royal, leaders, or Maos. Independent inquiry for all the murders from all the side. No one should get away with murder.

Next think " Moist are fighting for poor people of Nepal ( 95% of Nepalese). A person who cannot think more than his/her personal benefit cannot understand the spirit of Maoist Movement. " Haha You are right .Well done, You have understand maoist very well. Bro if you don't mind , Lets Vote on this topic in Sajha , how many vote maoist will get on sajha. So We can understand Maoist fail to understand nepalese or nepalese fail to understand maoist. Bu8t in my point of view , Killing innocent, raping and terrorizing the country doesn't mean they are fighting for poor people. It is just a different face of devil (Rachhas) name of maoist. They are Butcher, they can't be poltician. The are two type of Butcher in Nepal 1: Sell only animal (kasai) 2: Murder and killing civilian (Rachhas): Ganeand Gorvernment , Parchanda and Mao.

A revolution is not a dinner party, or writing an essay, or painting a picture, or doing embroidery; it cannot be so refined, so leisurely and gentle, so temperate, kind, courteous, restrained and magnanimous . A revolution is an insurrection, an act of violence by which one class overthrows another. "Report on an Investigation of the Peasant Movement in Hunan, in China"

Highfly, yeah, you are absolutely right, I do not know anything about you. And, I do not support any inhuman behavior either. But, think little deeper than that. Not supporting inhuman behavior behavior that the Maoist or Army is committing is something different in this scenario; but changing the country to a fair society is something important that we all are looking for. Lets at least think about securing the better future for our generation. Sajhabusaima, yes, like you said being in US and thinking about Nepal is easy. And that's why we are all talking in here. And, answering to your question, I would suggest you to think about a fairness in between the human beings more than the Nationality. We are human beings, we all share the equal rights in this world, then only after that, we are the citizen of Nepal. Makes sense what I am talking about?
