A circular has been sent from the Rastra Bank to all the banks to divert all the money to PM's fund. Please do something and confirm with Head of Bank with your connection. Our Scum bag politician will do whatever to take the donations.

Anything is possible in Nepal my dear. The law does not apply to politician. It only applies to Sarba Sadharan Janta.

I don't agree with this move. Now all funds being collected will require Government's approval and will only be sent to PM relief fund. At least that is what I have understood at the moment. This means all relief organizations will have to divert their funds to pm relief fund and then re ask the government to fund them again..which absolutely makes no sense in the present situation. With the ineptness of how our system works, it only adds bottleneck to and an extra layer of bureaucratic hurdle to cross while the victims are in peril.

It is actually very good move. It will make easy to track records how the money is being spent for what purpose. Although there is a risk politicians will distribute among themselves.

what about immediate access to the fund by the organizations on the ground? accessibility will be an issue where time is running out.... i can see the government is trying to see checks and balances, but any funds being sent to an specific organization will have their own checks and balances... why restrict the funds in such a manner instead of just asking the organizations to present their balances?

this must be due to international pressure against money laundering and terrorism funding. I dont believe Nepal govt can come up with these ideas on their own. Does Koiralo has physical and mental ability to think that far? Dude probably calls it a lucky day if he does not have to change more than 3 adult diapers a day. Some of what govt is doing is logical. National and international thieves, tax evaders, Murti chors, Desh bechua, and Bible traders are using this crisis for their gain. Tiny country like Nepal with its dumb fruckk leaders are seeing " tori ko phool"...In a small country like ours, the countries like China, India, US, UK, Russia, and Israel with huge political baggage are running their political game. This tragedy has served as a FREE TICKET for all of those thieves.

Its one thing to consolidate money donated to Nepal govt. It is something altogether different to force private entities and non-profits to give it up to Govt. The latter would be violation of individual property rights. As a private entity and as non-profit entity they should be able to give the money to any entity they want. If govt is concerned about laundering or misuse then it should have mechanism to audit the financial report. It cannot simply take over the money from them.

Itroll-- Why I am concern is it might go into their pocket instead of Victims. I have zero trust with our scum bag politician. Some might have good intention but as soon it is about green dollar, their thinking will also become green. Even if we find out down the road that the fund got misused, can we hold them accountable? I guess, we cannot, cause they are politician.

Nepali people have short-term memory.

So I am starting to suspect that money collected will be used for PM's personal vacation and buying adult diapers rather than helping victims of this disaster?

Whoever supports this move is a NUT. Above was the fund donated by general public as few thousand rupees from each donor. PM KOIRALA didn't use this money for the victim; he used it for his own PERSONAL BENEFIT.
Anil Shah: The government of Nepal has decided that all funds donated and collected
for earthquake relief has to be deposited in the Prime Minister's
Relief Fund! The government has said that it has taken this step in
order to ensure that individuals and institutions do not misuse the
funds collected in the name of relief, and to streamline coordination to
ensure the optimum utilization of funds! As a citizen of Nepal I would
like to remind my government that by doing this they are now fully
and solely responsible for every family that is without a roof over
their head, every injured person who is not getting treatment, every
family that does not have water or food, and every disease and epidemic
that spreads from today! The citizens of Nepal and friends of the Nepali
people across the world wanted to do their best to help in whatever
manner they could. Thousands of youth were engaging themselves in taking
assistance to their affected brothers and sisters, whether they be in
the heart of the valley or the most remote of villages; However now with
all funds being mandatorily diverted to the government they have no
means of continuing their efforts! People across the world who were
sending funds and materials to individuals or institutions that they had
faith would get the needed relief to the affected people are also
stepping back as they are unaware of what will happen to their
contributions when it's put into such a big pool! But our government is
our government and as citizens we must abide by our governments
decision, but I humbly request our government to also remember we are
the people who vote to put them in government and wish that they are
able to fulfill this immense responsibility that they have taken, from
the hands of their citizens who wanted to help, so that we will be able
to use these idle hands to vote for them the next time round! For now
every Nepali who has lost their home, their business, their loved ones,
are sick, hungry and thirsty is solely and wholly the responsibility of
the government! And I don't think your public will wait for very long
watching our brothers and sisters suffer, every day is one day to many,
and please don't tell us that the task is huge and will take time
because you were the ones who told us you didn't need our help and would
be better able to do it if we stepped aside and stopped trying to help!
We are your citizens so we will abide by our governments decision, now
please prove you are our government and deliver on the responsibility
you've taken on!!!

This is actually a good move by the government. If hundreds of organizations are mobilizing the funds, there is no way to track how the fund is being distributed. Same person might get benefit from multiple organizations and some may not get anything from anywhere. Also there is no guarantee that non-government organization will mobilize the fund in any better way than the government. After all government is the reflection of the people.

The problem in Nepal is who is to believe? Can we trust police? No. Can we trust army ? No. Can we trust bureaucrat? no. Politicians? big no. journalist? no. Teachers ? no. Religious gurus? no. Political parties? no. student leaders ? no. Can we trust NGOs? no. I even cannot trust my relatives and friends completely. There are some perfectly honest persons and they alone can do nothing. Lower strata people in general are relatively honest but the most of the people who educated, have some kind say in society are dishonest to the core. In this situation its better to trust government machinery. If you can help yrself that is the best otherwise if you need to hand yr money to some one you dont know or some kind NGOs or charities better give to government fund.

Government has not been able to even coordinate the resources at the airport. On top of that, they want to handle all the mess by themselves. Everybody is entitled to their opinion. But I think this is the worst move by our government. It doesn't have the capacity to mobilize all the funds. I will write why it is wrong: - Last year, many people donated for sunkoshi flood victims to Prime Minister's Welfare Fund. PM used this for his personal medical tab instead of helping the real victim. - Government is inefficient, and they're currently overwhelmed and won't be able to channel it in a proper way. - Every year, in our country, several developmental budget ends up not being spent. History shows that they're inefficient in channeling the budget to the programmed project. This is something beyond what they have seen. - Why will NGO or INGO do all the hardwork for donation drive when it is going to be AUTOMATICALLY transferred to PM's (sort of PRIVATE) account? I called it PRIVATE account because he can use it for Personal benefit (he did it few months ago). - By doing this, is government saying that they're going to take RESPONSIBILITY of its citizens on its own hands (Anil Shah said this). - Do you who our PM is? Have you watched interview of Bamdev on toughtalk? Do you know the parliamentary committees called on top administrators on their committees THIS WEEK for clarifications while they were (I hope) working on ground zero. I wrote this to show how qualified our leaders are.
