Almost a "Dhoka" by "Lauka"!!
I never cooked Lauka before but I had a craving of lauka tonight. Loved the way mom used to cook it with sukuti in it. So here I’m stir frying the pork chops. You know, why?? Ghanta paunu sukuti bhanya belama….excuse my language…that’s post "Loot" effect. It looked red and all that . I went on put some potato just to give extra gravy… potato turned red and soft and finally it was all about lauka. Had a perception that lauka tend to be soft and soggy... so waited till last moment just like they waited to promulgate the constitution. But I was sure that my lauka will work unlike the country’s lauka aka constitution. I knew my lauka wont give me dokha. So everything was looking good. So I threw about 15-20 lauka chops into the semi cooked pork & potato dish and started stirring and cooking. 5 minutes into it. Lauka stayed strong… I’m like "Okay…!!! Turned up the heat… potato gave up…lauka still looking strong..even the pork chops started saying ,"dude...whats up with the heat?? I’m sweating like a pig." I said, "Okay hang on pig…stay strong." Lauka started sweating but that was about it. Added little water and turned the heat at maximum. The gravy started erupting like a volcano but lauka stayed calm. I tried to poke the lauka with the stirrer, the sucker was still hard. So pork chops started yelling at me, "Macchhiis... tero lauka pakdaina..mooji lai nikalera falde. " Then it was too much for the pork chops & it started to do dead man walking out of the pan, but I told him, " hang on.. you stay there..let me find the solution." So I took out all those lauka chops…jaatha haru still in cubical shape…and put aside and heat up oil in pressure cooker..threw them into the cooker…I told them. "Now show me what you got?" As the oil started getting into the lauka’s ass, I can see the lauka’s pain… started smiling and told them ..here comes camel under the hill…gave the lauka 2 sittthhi… those son of bitches melted like cheddar cheese… so the lauka became what it was supposed to be and I put it back to my sukuti and aalu gravy... stirred a little bit in medium heat. The dish was ready. It looked just fine. However, It took me almost an hour to to cook it. Tasted a little bit. Not bad! It will never ever become like the one my mom used to cook it. But hey, I had my lauka ready and we ate it . I didn’t disappoint myself and others unlike our country’s lauka.

After the research, I came to the concluison that reason behind Lauka staying strong was that I forgot to peel off the skin. duhhhhhh.....
Thanks for liking my "Lauka" anyway...
