If you are a direct hire employee and not from consultancies, you don't have to worry at all.

I didn't have any problem. The only question I was asked was how big the nepali community is at my city. Nothing related to job or any thing. But I submitted the entire document required during appointment at Nabil Bank and it looked like they checked it all. Good luck.

I got my visa stamped from Nepal last week. The interview lasted for only few minutes. Questions asked: Where do you work? Your job responsibilities ? School? There were 3 h1B cases, only 2 got visas (myself and another guy who was a engineer from TX) . For some reason , the other guy employed by some consultancy was rejected visa. Make sure you have all the documents ready before you go for the interview and just be confident...Good luck!!!

I had my H1B visa interview on the 30th of Jan 2009. They only asked me if I worked for the company or did I contract through a consultancy. If you go to the website for the US consulate Kathmandu, you will find a list of documents required both for the submission of the application at NABIL and the documents required for the interview which you take with you and submit it at the counter at the time of the interview. I had all the documents listed on the website. I also carried additional documents in a different packet that I didn't submit (like all my I-20's and EAD cards ready just in case they asked for it). Thankfully they didn't ask for any additional documents.

Are you still stuck in Kathmandu or you managed to get back? My visa stamping is on hold now since they issued me 221 (g) How long did it take in your case to clear everything and get it stamped? I would really appreciate your response. Thanks

H-1B visa stamping in Kathmandu Kathmandu has received a copy of Hyderabad Consulate 221 (g) requirements. This is very through and will ask to provide company's tax returns; quarterly payroll tax returns, list of non immigrant employees along with W-2s; photos of business premises and much more. If you are applying for the visa, do make sure to have the followings: 1) Prove your F-1 status through uninterrupted I-20s; degree and transcripts and thereafter OPT. 2) Prove your bonafide employment history through W-2s matching H-1B LCA as well as bank statement to show that you did receive the salary as stated in the underlying LCA. 3) Folks working at the IT consulting or third party client site must also provide end client letter which will be verified by the Embassy through its Kentucky Office. The end client letter must include the job description as well as email and phone number of contact person. 4) If you have any court cases, do make sure to carry the certified court decree. Good Luck!

i got my visa stamped in november. i work for a legit american company(non-IT field)...i was interviewed by the african-american officer. he was very friendly and didnt ask me very much other than some personal questions...( if i enjoyed my work....if i was single...when i was planning on getting married)..he then said he couldnt issue me the visa at the very moment because he had yet to receive the electronic version of I-129(something the embassy gets transferred to them from USCIS , after you submit ur application form to Nabil bank as per my understading). majority of applicants were facing this situation...i was issued 221 g form stating the wait for the e-version of the petition..he gave me a time frame of 3-5 days within wchic i would hear from them about the visa...i called them the 5 th day to find out my visa was ready...before u go for stamping check with lawyer or some expert if I 129 could be sent in to the embassy electronically in addition to the hard copy at the time u submit the form to nabil bank. this may prevent u from the unnecessary delay which many seem to be facing there...this seems to be due to some technical issue on part of USCIS in sending data promptly to the embassy...good luck to all the H1B stamping prospects...

One of my friends got stamped from KTM two weeks back, he was working as a consultant. He received visa in just two days. In addition to all the other documents, he had very strong letter from his manager from work (client) directly addressed to visa consulate ktm.

There is no risk for visa stamping in Nepal for h1b right now. I have seen many of my friends have stamped recently at least more than five in few month and I have just stampped few weeks back too. No matter you are consultant or full time but make sure you have all the documents, your tax returns, at least recent few paystubs, letter from company, your maanger, if you are consultant letter from your manager is not necessary because you are employed by your consultning company not your client but if you can get it its a plus I would say. What else, your F1 original i 20s plus all the i20s you have had before, your h1b approval document. For proff of the client you are workiing you can print out few emails or some work related stuff if you are too consious about that. Now a days they put you pending for few days because they will electornically verify your informaiton from the system and according to them that takes 3-5 days but it may take more may be upto a week so prepare for this apply as soon as you are in Nepal so you wont have problem later. H1b stamping is not like F1 interview process that they will ask you tricky questions, they will ask you some simple questions like, hows your school? hows your work? whats your roles? how do you enjoy working? where do you live or do for fun? married or single I mean very simple informaiton personal question so dont get scared about that. Last but not least make sure to get stamped from shram mantrala after you get your visa stamped otherwise they wont let you leave from aiport. Its situated in somewhere in koteshwor or something near by that place right next to that river in very crappy place sorry I am not from ktm so dont know which place exactly... but make sure to have that believe me you dont want to go through all the troubles in the airport later on.
Dont go through india if you are going to have long transit hours because they wont give you boarding pass before few hours of flight time and you will get stuck in some small place where there is nothing other than rest room. but if you have few transit hours thats perfectly fine, they have awesome aiprot specially Indira Gandhi airport its 10 times better than US ariports and they wont give you any trouble other than checking few extra times thats completely acceptable as they care about your saftey. FYI you can set up your interview date by filling out the form from here if you have short vacation. anything else? you should be good to go now...
