Friends,

My OPT will expire at Jan 2009 and I want the extension now? Is it possible to get extension now or I have to wait till end of the OPT expiration? Please let me know from any source.

Don't ever wait till last minute. I talked with my International Office and they said that plan on starting OPT extending process like one and a half or 2 months earlier. Hope it helps

Ask with the HR people of your company. Even if they don't know the answer themselves, they will find it out for you. Best of luck.

My question here is, techically can we apply for OPT now if it expirese at Jan 2009? Or there is any rule which mention I have to wait some period of time?

You can apply for 17 month extension at any time during your OPT period. You can talk to your international student office for extension. Because it takes 2-3 months to get processed and approved, this is the best time for you to apply.

IPO recommeded me to apply between 90 to 120 days but I want to apply now. But I don't see anywhere USCIS mentioned to apply for specific time period. Any clue?
