Why are sports registration in ANA so expensive? $ 450 for entry in soccer tourney !!!

Also, given that it is a knockout format, $ 450 for a game is quite a lot. THey should change the format OR lower the fees....and with that kind of fees I hope we don't have to run in a park.

NYNYC did a good job of finding a real nice venue, I hope BANA finds something like that but I dont see anything in that vicinity..any idea where it is going to be played?

Exactly...Don't these local organizations who undertake the contract to host the ANA know that sports are what brings the maximum participation to the ANA event as a whole?   Imagine...10 soccer teams (total 15x10 = 150 peeps), 8 basketball teams (8x8 = 64 peeps), 3 women's b'ball (8x3 =24), 4 Volleyball teams (10x4 = 40), And fans of these teams which includes friends, family and grils/guys who have the hots for these players = Atleast 300 (for all sports combined).  The numbers above are the lowest approximation I could think of.  On the lower end of the spectrum, the total attendees due to sports only comes to about 600 people.  And still these cats have the nerve to charge $450 for registration?

Where does the money collected from the parties go?  There are 3 parties wtih each having an attendance of atleast 900-1000 peeps.  With $20 tickets for each event (It'll be more like $40 tkts for sure), we see revenues of 18K per night...For 3 nights, that makes it 54K just off the parties (if tkts are $20...If they charge $40 like I am told it'd be, then double the Gross revenues to $108K.  On top of that Registration fees is $10.  And atleast 1,500 peeps will register...That makes the Gross revenue shoot up to $108K+15K = $123K!!  Now, lets say that the Net expenses of the concert/parties/sporting events/miscelleneous items comes to about $40K at the most, Now look what we have: A NET PROFIT of (123K-40K)= $83K!!!

C'mon organizers, with all that money you'd make off this event, why are you scalping the sporting teams who MAKE the ANA what it is.  The way you've be raping the participants (mostly students) is totally appalling for an association whose primary focus is to unify the Nepali Diaspora.  Going forward, let the sporting events be free so that you could have more attendees to the ANA without any cost/financial constraints which they already face.  BTW, charge the people who attend the discussion and panels (the wannabe netas), as they ruin all the fun we have at the ANA.  They need to talk about Nepal's development in Nepal instead of giving all their wise-crck ideas to peeps who've already left their home-land and have no intent of returning.  Once agian organizers, let these wannabe netas and their chelas pay for the forums and discussion panels as the ANA has been providing that for free while sports participants (the major attraction) are being charged all that money from their throats!  C'mon, the ANA is supposed to be fun, and the younger crowds are what makes it worthwhile to attend.  Get the Budas outta there.  Enough of this BS already.

ANA is out to make $$$ AND $$$ ONLY. $450 to play soccer? YOU GOTTA BE FUGGIN KIDDIN ME($55 just to register WHICH THEY CLAIM IS SUBJECTED TO CHANGE, tyesmathi khana lai alaggai meal ticket kinnu parney, function lai allagai ticket kinnu parney, basna lai alaggai tirnu parney), then what the fug is registration for ? ha ha ha Registration is just to say YES you are a NEPALI. THIS IS DAYLIGHT ROBBERY.

$450 is damn expensive. These people look forward to make $$$ for their organization by hosting this kinda event. Which is contemptible.

And to top it off they have sposors too . I saw multiple Banners in their website. Yo ta Nepali haruko bheetghaat garney utsav hoina ki PAISAAA KAMAUNEY MAUKAAA HO. YO NEPALI BHEDAA HARUUU LAI GHAASS KWAYERAA SOOON HAGAAAUNAA LAGYAA HO. HA HA HA

 

I dont care if some nepali bloke is making money out of me, I rather be robbed by nepali tahn someone else...

HOWEver, it should be moneys worth ! like samsara said, if you sports is bringing you so many people to the game alerady(more revenue), why try to make more?  plus if u make people play in OLD park or torn down YMCA, it sucks even more..

da .. . give sports main priority . . . my team is coming to attend the ANA just because to participate in Soccer . ..  had there been no soccer . ..  wouldnt have been there in july  .. .  look because of socccer we are coming to  ANA . . .  not about those parties ... where  those short of parties can be made . or happen  or have done  everytime . ..   because playing soccer and  its ANA  lets  participate . . thatw as  our motto . . ..  our team has 20 players  ... and  our frens and families .. . around 30  .. . just from one soccer team .. .  imagine  how many  people  would be there because of sports    ... as Samsara had described above . ..   ticket fare 500$, have to take a week off to attens . .living expenses . . . comes to  be around 1500$ for our one player  . ..  30*1500$ = 45,000$ would be the expenses . . so organizers give more emphasis on sports  . . include some cash prize to boost the players and the teams  for the event . . .   and couple of weeks ago the registration for soccer was 150$ but now increased to 450$ . .. why?  .. what happens to those teams that have registered already for 150$  .. ...

That is why they are milking you for $450. The game should be held for free(at least thats how it used to be). It is a friendly match in the spirit of sportsmanship. And the winner gets bragging rights for a year.

Any prediction for this years champion?

I have to agree with Samsara. I think its a waste of money . ANA organisers should be ashamed of themself .

Guy's hold up.. don't jump to conclusion. Did you call anybody in Baltimore Organizing team for sports and verify anything??

 

I think that 450 consist's of regular registration for ANA also.. but it would be better to make sure and wh not call the organizers and tell em' you guy's think that the price is pretty steap, They might change thier mind...
