lootekukur,
My apologies, I accidently missed your reply amidst the ugly altercation, I was adressing the admin for sure. But yes, thanks for your kind words, and no, you did not offend me by any means, it was just me who's vision was so clouded I couldn't see past Nas's thread.

Mercury,
Long time no see, why does it require a critic to bring long gone friends?

Miracle,
Thanks for the support, but do I know you? Email me please.

Flippy,
Cheer, I always knew it was coming. Never knew I had to be so bitter.

Nepaali,
Been a long time eh! Maybe I should follow your footsteps - the one I had been refraining for a long time. Ego veers, sanity stumbles and patience pushes limits these days at sajha. A healthy thread with a little sarcasm is perhaps too much to digest that people resort in combat. There are many in store Nepaali, and I am not going to quit, as long as readers like you encourage me, this over the hill story-teller still rants on.

In appreciation.
John

Constructive criticism is one thing but personal attack is NOT an "argument", it's a whole different issue and I am just using an "equivalent retaliation" strategy. That's all.

Peace.

As the saying goes:

Someone accidentally labelled Arnico Pandey as John Galt at the ANA(?), so you may have thought John Galt was Arnico. I don't think that was correct though. :)

John Galt
did you call yourself over the hill? hehehe - we have yet to meet! :0)
(and stop opening stuff in front of your lil un!)

Nepal dherai pragati bhayechha. I never heard this kind of Nepali song before. I am surprised Nepal is not laggaing behind at least some of the fronts. Bikash nai bhayechh.

John,

It's sad to see this ugly interruption in this otherwise so beautiful thread.

You probably have realized by now that in a forum like this, it is not worth responding to abusive poster/posting.

Ignore. That is the most powerful and effective tool to deal with abusive posters.

Ignoring sends them all necessary messages in more powerful way than words can do. This is one of the few secrets of my survival in Sajha. So don't ever think of quitting Sajha because of abuse.

Also remember posters like you have made Sajha worth sticking to for many visitors.

*** *** ***

I generally do not respond to abuse. However, I am going to say to NAS that the vulgar song he posted and brought this ugly turn was uncalled for. And I am saying it to him because I was in impression, after reading it in one of sticky thread how he won Sajha award for best pictures and donated the prize money to a good cause, that he is one of responsible posters in Sajha.

That is all I have to say. Good time in Sajha to everybody.

Nepe

Deep-jee, so you are saying John played Zidane. Fair enough. However, I will add this much. This time Materazzi was not even a player. He was just an ordinary abusive spectator outside the court. Zidane should have noticed that.

However, seriously about the World Cup. I am with Zidane for one thing. He exposed one ugly aspect of competitive sports most of us were unaware of. Probably he did not mean it at that spur of the moment. However, if the thought crossed his mind even for a nano-second of those seconds he took to react, I'd consider him a great martyr.

Amrit bro,

It was an experimental song. I wanted to know the reaction of the people after listening to this song.

We often hear these obscene words used in my lyrics and yet people are shocked when they hear it on a record. They act like they are hearing it for the first time in their entire life. This is probably because no Nepalese had the experience of hearing explicit Nepalese words on a record.

As Trillian famously said "we have normality...Anything you still can't cope with is therefore your own problem. Please relax." But people are ignorant as F**K and quick to pass a judgement and some are even too curious to know about my background and upbringing. It's like if you write a fictional story about a murder in your story, you are a murderer in a real life too.

What more can I say !

I just happend to check this thread today since I've been seeing it on top for a while and what a fiasco. I don't get to read all the threads but if I see a thread on top for a while then I make it a point to read it. After reading John Galt's message directed at the admin, I checked to see if the notify admin was working and I apologize to tell you that I found out that it was not working. In the numerous upgrades and changes we've had in sajha, that piece of code must have gotten defunct somehow.

I would have checked in if I had received the notification, and I will make it a point to get it working by the end of the day.

With regards to NAS posting his rap piece in this thread here, I think it was not the right thing to do. Granted people have a right to post in sajha forum, but they need to realize that the rest of the visitors have a right to not have to listen to somone's foul mouth.

Depending on NAS's bringing up and surroundings maybe he feels that all the foul and derogatory words are cool. Maybe for him or his acquaintances it is all fine and good. Maybe even within a circle of like minded friends it could be cool. BUT, it is wrong of him to assume that it is fine for public/sajha use. Unless strongly warned for it's contents such lyrics and/or postings are not allowed in sajha.

This discussion is comparable to a respectable writers convention where NAS comes in and sings his tripple X rated rap. Nas you were out of place here. If it was a real world situation, people would have thrown you out for being inconsiderate and foul mouthed in a public place.

The discussions that ensued were bad but it was all due to Nas's failure to be courteous and respectful of others. Nas I have asked you many times to be respectful of others at all times. I hate to ban people because I would like everyone of us here to have a good time showing respect for each others and having discussions in a positive and respectful manner. Let's all please work on that.

Regards.

Nepe bro,

I did not start this mess. That proofreader did.

I was simply responding to Suna. You could check the thread. I never mentioned a word to this proofreader but this dude dragged himself into this. Started throwing dirt on my name and my parents out of nowhere which was totally unnecessary. If I had said something bad to this proofreader, he had every right to defend himself. He started it so I had to shiit on him. You get what you deserve.

You don't pick a fight unless you are provoked and I am not letting myself to be a punchbag of some ignorant proofreader. I mean nobody will.

That's all Nepe bro. You have a good day bro.

NAS,

I thought you said "All's well that ends well". But, seems like you want to prove that you are right. Furthermore, you're claiming that "Music is a free expression ..." and "...expressions may conflict", what you trying to prove now? If you have that freedom to define your music, weren't you aware of the context of this thread? Bro, you are out-of-context in this thread. Ofcourse, you have the freedom to choose the taste of music you like. Nobody is stopping you to keep those kinds of contents either in this site. But, it shouldn't be out-of-sequence. If you had that freedom, why didn't you create your own thread then?

I don't mean that I hate you nor John. But, there should be a limit. Seems like you're not aware of explicit contents. Do you teach the same thing to your children when they expose to these explicit contents? Do you want them to learn explicit languages before they actually know A,B,C,D...? "LIMIT YOUR FREEDOM WITHIN SOCIETAL NORMS & VALUES"

I didn't want to talk about this matter, but seemed like I had to.

JOHN,

Never stop writing your articles in this site. Although, I don't read all of your articles, I have read some of them. And, I haven't seen more prolific writer than you in this site. Keep on writing!

John da is a great writer, moreover he has chosen to write on debatable issues lately as in this thread. i am sure he is well aware of the fact that with accolades, his writing is bound to evoke criticism and sometimes heated arguments as well. he should take both equally responsbily and thoughtfully. i am pretty much sure that minor brawl with fellow nepalese is not going to baffle him and stop him from writing. Keep it coming John bro, i am one of your admirers!

Nas bro,
your posting was not irrelevant. coz this thread itself was on music and the writer had expressed his concern over the degrading quality of today's music. if i were you, i would post a great number from today's generation and would try to retort with the writer's argument. the only mistake ( if i may call it) that you did was by posting a rather controversial and obscene number for general audience. Had you posted "killing terrace" or something like that, i am sure response would have been different.

i have a sneaky feeling that you are Aroz :P. correct me if i am wrong. i am a kind of fan of his voice. i have said this before and i am saying it again that if he restrains himself from singing unwholesome numbers, he will make it a big one...trust me!!. i am your fan too. :)

"This discussion is comparable to a respectable writers convention where NAS comes in and sings his tripple X rated rap. Nas you were out of place here.

San bro, this thread was discussing about the music in general so I posted that song in response to Suna's post which was totally related. Suna said she "cringes" nepalese rapper so I posted that song to let her know why she was so right when she said that. So it's totally releated San Bro, Trust me :)

Plus, that exclamation mark that you coded infront of thread served as NSFW. So people had been pre warned of the content. Even if they opened the thread, the song starts after 15 seconds from the intro, so they had enough time to hit that stop button. So people can't blame me for having to listen to that song :) If they listened to it, they listened at their will.

But then he could have been " courteous and respectful " while responding to my thread eventho not a single word has been mentioned about him.He had no regards for other people and blatantly disrespected me and my parents.

If it was a real world situation, people would have thrown you out for being inconsiderate and foul mouthed in a public place."

I would never be inconsiderate and be a foul mouth in a public place . I ain't no fool :)

"Do you teach the same thing to your children when they expose to these explicit contents? Do you want them to learn explicit languages before they actually know A,B,C,D...?"

Its not cool for kids to be singing my song but if you are 18 and above be my guest and exercise your freedom to choose :) That's how I was brought up. :) I should soon write a book about "This is how Nas was brought up." It will be another hit.

Loote bro you are so right, when people hear "katti khep" they have every bad words to say about me, when they hear "Killin Terraces" they have all the good words. So, in general, I concluded that the Nepalese Music Market is not yet ready for explicit songs unlike western music market. This is all part of my music research for my album. :) Atleast, I have one person who admires my work. I hope you will buy my album if it comes out too :)

Long story short, please forgive me if I have hurt your sentiments in anyway. I apologize to you all. (Normally I don't do this!) and thank you for proofreading :)

John,

I was staying away till this thread seems to have dragged me right back into Sajha :-)
I will say this much about your writing- it's brilliant and Lord knows, there's a need for intellecutally sublime threads on Sajha (in site of this message board's capacity to hijack a perfectly decent thread and throw it in the abyss!) Please keep writing.

As for the ego, sanity and patience that are all put to the test on Sajha, I know perfectly well what you mean, and I think you are entirely justified in your response to the audio clip (I spared myself the torture of having to sit through it), but, like I said, your time is best spent on the magnificient writing you put out--the rest of it can fall by the wayside primarily because certain comments do not deserve the courtesy of a response!

Cheers,
