I would appreciate if anyone has any information about renewing visa in Mexico or Canada. I had 5 years multiple B1/B2 visa when I entered US and changed my statue to F1 on 2002. I never had any Semester off or any problem changing my status. Is there anyone has similar situation or does anyone has any suggestion what are the risk involve in going to Nepal or getting visa in Mexico or Canada.

Haasmukh bro,

Once you leave the country, your university will issue a new I20 and you need a new F1 visa to re-entered. I am not sure whether it is worth trying to get the visa from either canada or mexico, since you are almost there to obtain your diploma. but WHAT IF they denied you to re-enter in the US, then you will be middle of NOWHERE. Better you talked with your International Academic Advisor, they have better idea about these stuff and what is the denial rate from that University.

So best of luck bro

Haasmukh

Do some more research. As far as I can remember, they were NO LONGER ISSUING F-1 VISA from Canada. I guess same applies to Mexico.

You might already know that you really don't need a 'F-1' visa stamp on your passport as long as you are maintaining your status. Visa is only needed if you leave the country and want to come back.

My advise is wait until you really have to goto Nepal. THere always is a risk involved. Don't goto Mexico or Canada just to get a VISA, they don't give it nowadays anyways.

That absolutely make sense to me. I don't want to take any chances. But somewhere I heard as a student can reenter from mexico showing a I94 card and I20, even if you get rejected for visa. I don't know how far is it true. Also I heard some people hire a immigration lawyer in the border to take them along to the embassy at mexico, even during the time of interview. So if there is any issues they start to flip a law book to explain the embassy people and there is no chance of getting rejected. Does anyone know about it? If so can anyone suggest a good lawyer I can consult to.
