Hi Sajha community,
I am looking for suggestion/information to extend visitor visa of my mom. Could you please share what are the documents that I need to send to USCIS? I know form i-539, USCIS website does not mention other documents that I need to include with the form i-539. Your suggestion is highly appreciated. Also, what would be the most appropriate reason for the question: why need to extend?

Thank you!

valid reasons for extending B2 visa status can be;
continuation of tourism activities
social meetings with friends and relatives
participating in social organizations and functions.

To add:
I extended my parents stating that they will attend the 1st birthday of my child. Maybe, you can state continue spending time with parents or something similar. I don't think it matters that much as long as it is valid and reasonable and it's the 1st extension.
In my case, I submitted the old return tickets, new changed tickets, my kiddo birth certificate.
You should submit all documents that supports your case. The more the better as long as it makes sense and supports your reasoning for extension.
Also, don't file too early. I filed right around 35-40 days earlier before expiration of their I-94. Because USCIS takes longer time to review cases like this, it works in your benefits not to file too early.. And as long as you have receipt notice (this will not take long, you should get a receipt notice in 1-2 weeks), your parents will be legal status until decision is made. So even if you receive extension denial, your parents had already spend months by the time the decision reaches to you. And also, there is no mention of days that you should return after denial. Effort should be made to return as early as possible in case of denial so that future visits are not affected.
In my case, My parents returned after 3 months and I still didn't had extension results from USCIS so I wrote a letter back stating to pull application. I received confirmation in mail.
Also, I am sure you know it, But you just need one application for all family members as long as they are related. This saves you money $$$$

Thank you STUPIDA for pouring in a lot of information which are very helpful. You have mentioned that in case of denial one has to return as soon as possible and would not affect future visits, however this website tells a number of complications for future visits. What is your stand on this?

Santosh Ji,
I have read that before. So in case of denial, there is no grace period which is correct and there are no mention of days as well. You can check USCIS websites too. That is why keep all documents and other things that can prove that all efforts were made to leave the United States as soon as possible. I never said that there are no consequences. It is still in the discretion of POE authority to let you enter for 2nd time or US consulate for future extensions. That is where your documents come into play showing you made efforts to leave as soon as possible.
No one can leave on the same day of denial notice in mail. You have to prove that "all possible efforts were made to leave US as soon as possible". This is the key.
Even in your link, it states 30 day grace period, But I don't think USCIS has anything mentioned about no of days. At least not few years back.
Chances of denial for 1st extension is very minimal.
