At the Nepal Literature festival, Rajesh Hamal expressed his views on marriage.
He's getting a lot of flak for his view esp on mysansar. I, for one, thought it was somewhat profound, the way he expressed it.
What do you guys think?

I totally agree with Rajesh on this. Life is not just about getting married, produce children and populate our earth. Life is about new experiences, thrills etc.

Would've been nice if your parents shared similar thoughts, Gorikobuda. We wouldn't need to put up with a moron like you on here to say the least.

Birendra, there is a CROWD and YOU.
Who do you want to be? YOU or CROWD?
I respect Rajesh Hamal's view, I didn't know he was philosophical to that extent.
He's talking things of 10,000 years ago. He's right, we still have that instinct alive.
I've nothing to say about CROWD, CROWD is CROWD most often brainwashed
socially and religiously. If we ever think out of the box, whatever Rajesh Hamal
has said is the truth. But since we're CROWD, we don't like it and hence those
negative comments on mysansar. I'm not against marriages or relationships for life
but they're not stable anymore.

I totally agree with him. I have a huge respect for Rajesh, he is deep, very analytical and full of truth. While marriage is a practise set up by people of the society, it doesn't have to be the only way to live a life. The world is over populated and people still continue the life that was once necessity. Not anymore. Most people on this planet cannot afford nor are 'really' interested in having kids. Yet they do simply because.... I wish people think about marriage a little bit deeply.

With proper interpretation one can argue that let alone human being, even any animal of animal kingdom is influenced/affected by these factors.

More than often, I have found that it's the girl that wants to get married more than the guy. I think girls get scared to imagine having to spend their life alone.

i am unmarried too. but what rajesh dai is saying might have to do with the frustration of being unmarried and he is trying to console himself and justify his situation.

Rajesh dai has adequate female acquiantances, resources, and most importantly enough "ink" to " provide "autograph" to as many female fans as he physically can. Given that why does he need to buy a cow for the same milk from the same source and delivered at about the same time and in the same manner?
But most of you are not Rajesh Hamal or a NBA star who can confess to sleeping with about 10000 women which happens to be a very conservative figure, by a shrink, if you will.
Regarding the topic of marriage, there are two ways it can be done in Nepal either arranged or love.
Here is a trend going on in the arranged marriage route. The days when beasts used to get beauties or hags used to land princes, simply because of family coercion, is seeing the beginning of its end.
Rajesh Hamal's opinion on the topic as विवाह जस्तो ढोङ्गी नाता मानव जातिमा अरु छैन is grossly ill-conceived, to say the least. If the marriage takes place after a considerable romance and one individual proposing the other while both were expecting matrimonial intention, I do not see how such a mutual decision constitutes making just the proposer happy. My guess, just a guess, is this arrogant actor must have uttered the same paraphrase to numerous fan-turned-lover-turned-stalkers. But the main point is, if he does not ever want to get married, that is his human-right. Even if married, one can get the way out via a divorce.
Whether married or not, if a man has a stable partner life itself will work toward a more definitive direction instead of a bed-hopper who has to pay the rent or mortgage on his/her own and has to make a sole decision when at a crucial crossroad in life. A married partner is also an "intimancy-insurance" to some losers who had had dry spells for a fair number of years, or worse never ever touched an opposite sex.
To make the long response short, all Mr. Hamal had to say was, marriage is something he does not want to get involved in, at least for now or ever. I can't believe no one is even bringing up the topic of सन्तानको सुख.

I think Rajesh Hamal was questioning the legality and significance of the social/cultural institution of marriage. I don't think he was questioning the desire for sex, companionship or procreation. Marriage is like a license to those things, but does it really have to be?
