For Green Card, Does any kind of document is acceptable in place of Birth Certificate. I do not have birth certificate. Also is this required for principal applicant only orrequired for depends too?
If you dont have Birth certificate, you will need a certified letter from Wada Karyalaya of your birth place stating your date of birth and your parents name.
I heard that any kind of certification (Affadvit of Support???) suffices the requirement of birth certificate. But I am not sure myself.
what about death Certificate?
AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT is indeep a replacement of a birth certificate.
For this you will have to produce two affidavit of support certified by a lawyer bearing statement of two people who were witness at the time of the birth of the child.

you should request this from Nepal Embassy, this is the best. I had same issue similar to this too.

i need a Birth Certificiate and on mine, it doesnt have my name on it. so that is the problem..
Dude,
If its your birth certificate and does not have your name on it Did you steal mine then? So there has to be your name and your parents and grand parents name where you lived and when you were born. These informations is the most Important for BC
Hope this helps
MikeBibby, where did you get ur birth certificate from ?? hospital or some ministry ?

Latoboy,
Go to Ward office, They should be able to write you in ward writting pad stating thos thing i said earlier and it should work. Take that from Hospital as well and asked them to elaborate those for you.
Good Luck
I am glad that somebody brought up this topic. I have asked my father back in nepal for the BC to be issued by the wada but there is a new problem. My attorney is saying that the issue date of the BC should not be current. How do I solve this? Did anyone face a similar problem and got through it?
TRY TO GET BOTH IN NEPALI AND IN ENGLISH. WHEN I DID THEY ASKED ME TO FILE WITH BOTH. BUT WHEN MY FRIEND FILED THEY ASKED FOR ENGLISH TRANSLATION ONLY. YOU NEVER KNOW WITH IMMI MATTERS. I THINK GOOD TO HAVE BOTH.
GOOD LUCK!
I just got a email from a friend regarding birth certificate. He had to get his birth certificate for DV processing. So, I am gonna just paste here what he wrote in that email.
BTW This is for DV processing. I am not sure if USCIS will accept this birth certificate.
Birth Certificate:
Most easiest and best way to get your birth certificate:
Every ward has a letter head in English. Just go to ward office and tell them that you want your birth ceritficate in english. Tell them that you will get it typed yourself (or if they ask give some money and let them do there only). if they give you the letter head, just get it printed or typed the matter stating your place of birth and the date. after that ask the ward chairman to sign it. since the ward chairman will be of same area so they will sign it right away. make sure to put the issue date (Chalani No.) thats all.
Longer and more harder process to get your birth certificate:(please dont opt this method)
First go to the Metropolitan Office and get the docs written in nepali and then gettting it translated from babarmahal translation office. Metropolitan office has a seperate department for birth certificate and can be easily located in the same compound. i think its now in sundhara (previous finance ministry building).
BTW This is for DV processing. I am not sure if USCIS will accept this birth certificate.
euta nepali,
you can submit "affidavit in lieu of birth certificate" which you can issue from your local govt office back in nepal, and has to have your name, birth place, date of birth, and either your mom, or father name, date of birth, birth place, with a witness , ie again either your father or mother or frined, uncle...with their birthplace, dob mentioned. need signature of all.
thats what i did in my case as per the attorney's request.
The letter from your WARD office is fine. Get it in English on the letter head as stated by Pupiffy. You lawyer is probably being over cautious to be on the safe side, but a current issue date is fine. Is this for adjustment of Status? If for some reason USCIS does not accept it, they will give you an opportunity to get the correct item.
